SUN VALLEY -- As wildfires blaze through Idaho, Bruce Willis is expressing his personal gratitude to the firefighters who are battling the inferno by treating them to meals.

Willis, who has multiple residences in Sun Valley, Idaho, arranged a catering service to feed around 450 firefighters at the Beaver Creek Fire, for both lunch and dinner beginning Friday.

The 57-year-old actor is also financing a food program to provide snacks to the firefighters as they relocate to other fires.

"Like all of my fellow Idaho residents, I want to extend my most sincere and grateful thanks to the firefighters and first-responders which include the helicopter and airplane pilots who have been flying for day in and day out, who risked life and limb to battle the horrific Beaver Creek Fire in Idaho," Willis said.

"You are the men and women who put your lives at risk to protect ours on a daily basis, but it is at moments like these that your heroism comes to the forefront of our nation's consciousness. On behalf of me and my family, please know that there will never be enough words to express our deepest appreciation for your ever-present dedication and bravery," he added.

In return for his generous contribution to the base camp, the firefighters made Willis a unique fountain comprised of pipes and nozzles

Snowy winter in store for Idaho?

Increasing water temperatures in the northeastern Pacific Ocean could mean good news for Idaho skiers and snowboarders this winter — and perhaps some much-needed drought relief for much of the Western U.S.

A winter forecast released this week by AccuWeather.com predicts frequent precipitation, in the form of rain and snow, for the Northwest as well as the northern Rocky Mountains.

I was in Sandpoint last month - the new bypass and entry into the town looks really good. They did a great job, and there's a nice new park down by the entry to the city beach. I love Sandpoint - I could definitely live there.

I was able to shoot these earlier this evening at late dusk into the early night. This thread seems like a good fit because this is our state capitol building.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Airport building design committee formed

Master plan outline approved by Airport Authority

By TONY EVANS
Express Staff Writer

The Freidman Memorial Airport Authority board on Tuesday set a deadline of October to have the design completed for an enlarged and reconfigured terminal and for relocation of three administration and service buildings.

The work is part of a $34 million project needed to meet federal safety standards that require more separation between the airport’s runway and taxiways.

UI aims to expand law school offering in Boise

Quote:
If lawmakers can get past jokes about too many lawyers in Boise already, the University of Idaho stands a good chance of doubling its programs in the state’s capital.

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter is behind a $400,000 measure to add a second-year offering for law students, to the third-year program now in Boise for students focusing on international business law or government. Lawmakers appear amenable, too.

That’s a change from 2008, when the Moscow-based school was initially rebuffed on more-ambitious plans to establish a full-fledged Boise branch law campus.

What’s changed? For one, however, there’s no longer creeping suspicion, including among Moscow-based lawmakers eager to protect home turf, the UI is trying to uproot its law school from its remote home on the Palouse for Boise’s more-populated confines.

Another thing: Lawmakers are eager to ensure Idaho’s lone public law school keeps pace with Oregon-based Concordia University’s private law school, which launched a program in Boise last year.

Question Horizon and Spokane, Boise

Does Horizon have more connecting flights from Spokane or Boise? Probably both fly to PDX. I don't know how far south flights from Spokane go.

Do both airports use the same sized aircraft? Just curious if Horizon/Alaska consider Spokane or Boise (or potentially both) to be connecting airports in the PNW. I know I haven't mentioned PDX, but that is a given.

Thanks for any/all info.

It's amazing that the Texas stuntman has paid nearly $1,000,000 to jump the canyon and re-create the Evil Kneivel stunt.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- Plans are underway for not one, but two stuntmen to jump the Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls in September.

A team of engineers, mechanics, and promoters in Twin Falls is working to build a replica of Evel Knievel's 1974 X2 SkyCycle in commemoration of the event's 40-year anniversary.

Omega Point Productions hopes to pull off the jump just a week before a Texas stuntman tries it.

Near Bogus Basin, above Boise and the inversion in the valley

Same location as above, looking south over the valley towards the Owyhee Mountains. Downtown is probably somewhere in the bottom center of this view.

A little higher looking SE.

more photos soon.
