Fascinating. You're lucky to get to visit. Those ancient ruins are amazing.
And the skyscraper with the wind mills in Bahrain is something to behold.
Was that a camel amusement ride at the end?

Great tour of a place I'll never see in person
One of my brother's friends in Texas is from Iran and has spent recent summers over there visiting family. The home videos he showed us remind me a lot of your photos, and he gave me some baklava and other neat edibles that he brought back last year.

Sweet pics. One question..

If I move to Canada (from the US) and become a Canadian citizen, then pay a visit to the Iranian embassy in Ottawa, would I have a chance at access to Iran?

This is something I've also wondered about concerning Cuba.

This I am not 100% sure of. Im sure if your a Canadian Citizen it shouldn't be a problem but country of birth may be an issue. I'd suggest phoning the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa to confirm.

Neat

and the world changes fast, maybe in 30 years the regime will have long since collapsed and things will be well again for Iran.

When did you go?

We were supposed to go last year but the wedding which was the main reason for going got cancelled because of all the riots and civil unrest.
Will still go probably in the near future and a visa is not a problem, in fact we were told (by the embassy) to just get it on arrival in Tehran.

It's wonderful how a short photo thread can capture so much of the scope of human civilization and history. Thank you. One day, I'm hoping to be able to wander the streets and bazaars of Shiraz and Isfahan (inshallah, I suppose).
