I love this woman's passion for painting and skyscrapers...

So yesterday I met this gentleman while I was painting the One Vanderbilt construction site on42nd Street. He is in charge of the iron workers and we got to discussing how many trades are involved in a single project. He reckons there are 20 trades on this project alone!

I was so pleased to meet Julie Rose who is a surveyor working on construction beneath Grand Central Station.

Plumbers! Charlie and his work mate, George. All of New York City is on their lunch hour on 42nd Street.

Painting in process! I love the energy I get from painting on site, but that's it for one day. Will go back again tomorrow, by which time the building will be a floor higher, no doubt!

Its a rendering not an actual photo and there may be some intent to make it look bigger than it actually will be compared to the ESB. Poor attempt on your part in trying to sound smart.

Here's another perspective: 1V will rise 771 feet higher than the W.R. Case building at foreground left in above pic.

@BoM:

I think you meant W.R. Grace.

And not to argue a point, but 771' is kinda hard to gauge using a frame of reference that close to the viewer.

But yes, this baby is rising hella quick.

Prezrezc you are right about the name. This building also appears in post# 2612 4th pic lower right. 1V will top out at 1401 feet. W.R. Grace is 630 feet.

Does anyone know the name of the building directly opposite One Vanderbilt on 42nd Street?

I think when One Vandy passes this building it will truly be noticeable on the skyline from downtown. Can't wait!

It's One Grand Central Place, formerly known as the Lincoln Building.

It was built in 1930 and is 673 feet tall

Throwback to another era. To think, almost a century later, the city is still shaping its skyline.

Thank you!

Yes, it is quite imposing and still has an impact to this day.

I'm still not sure how to include the actual source page, so please forgive me.

im sure this has been said before, but this building will balance the east side of midtown with the westside, when including hudson yards tower.
