The few lots that can/could be turned into something else either already have plans or have substantial or old buildings in place. Not sure what you want built there...

I can't help but expect something similar for 400LSD.

At this rate I expect 400 LSD to sport precast panels painted to look like terra cotta.

It's not even the same design anymore, I'm super disappointed.

I might be in the minority here but I don't think the revised version looks bad. Maybe I'm more excited to see the tallest building west of the Kennedy getting one step closer to reality but over all, I don't hate it.

Unrelated (no pun intended) but when I walk/drive/bike around Chicago and notice the sun hitting off of old terra cotta buildings you can see how beautiful of a building material it truly is.

If related dangles 400LSD as a Terra Cotta project in front of us and heads in another direction with it, that would be most unfortunate.

The only silver lining is that most of the tower is glass...I guess

The revised design look so much better, what is going on here? It's such a nice homage to the International style that we so love here... Those inverted bay windows were major wastes of space too for the building, so I'm happy they returned to form following function here. I think people will like it more as they see it more.

I'm confused why people are calling this VE already? What about it is VE? It's a different design, but it certainly isn't cheaper, and the material looks bolder in a silvery black. That brown would have turned out poopy and not like copper/bronze

I've brought it up in the past and I dont mean to jump off topic but looking at those pictures and with all these towers going up along the kennedy I hope the city would put some money into updating the greenery/landscaping along the exit ramps to replace that overgrown brush and weeds with something more eye friendly. I know, I know.....not high on their priority list. But still desperately needs work done.

At this point I just wish they'd show realistic designs/finishes from the outset, not stuff they have absolutely no intention of building.

I don't care that they changed the windows, but I hate how they squashed the floor heights. The original facade was like a beautiful piece of graph paper, a perfect square grid... now it just looks like a generic modernist facade. The proportions went from gorgeous to meh.

The base changed, too... used to be the fourth "floor" of the base was a false facade acting as a screen wall around the outdoor pool deck, now there is an actual fourth floor and the pool deck moved up to the 5th, so they did an "arcade" at the bottom of the tower shaft.

I really don’t think the revised design is bad

I also think that the bridges over the Kennedy (Randolph, Washington, Madison, Adams, etc) need to be repainted. I like the Chicago flag theme, but a fresh coat of paint would look nice at this point...

Those bridges don't just need to be repainted they need to be rebuilt. Some of the support columns are literally jerry rigged with these weird metal contraptions to keep them from collapsing.

They are in the process of rebuilding. Starting with the Monroe St bridge which is demolished and they are working on caissons now. I'm guessing the rest will follow over the next 5-10 years or so.
