Not exactly sure. We work with Clean Air New York and they issued one yesterday. It may be tough to tell from the photos, but there was a thick smog in the air all day yesterday. It seemed like we were in LA. Brooklyn was just a yellow smear.

They are done, but the large cranes will be assisting until the tower is tall enough to mount the third and final crane on the exterior of the building.

Not sure who did the prototype, but my understanding is that the glass has been outsourced to China and is being made and shipped back.

Thank you! It's a Canon s90, which is basically a G11 with a smaller body and no swivel screen. It takes incredible macro shots. I cant wait for the air to clear here to see how it does outside. I'm growing tired of taking 10mp shots and ultimately posting 1mp shots here.

Yes, it looks that way.

From this morning. Picasa appears to have just started allowing 1600px images to be embedded. Let's see if this works...

Wow! They have done quite a lot since Sunday. For a long time, noticeable progress wasn't easily discerned and I was checking 1WTC progress every 2-3 months. Now, I follow this thread, the one on Wired New York, and the earthcam.com every day.

Such an amazing project/ undertaking. With all the Chicago projects TO & wrapping up, WTC is currently the favorite to watch.

Most of the red columns look to be the thinner slightly interior "plenum" steel columns, just one outer column up, appropriately placed near the flags this Veteran's Day. Happiness is four cranes kicking butt, lol.

Big cross beam just went in, connecting the first new level outer column to the core.

Ah, they're jumping the gun again. Putting in one random column when the other side of the building isn't finished. Plus all the new plenum columns on the east side. I wonder if this tower will ever catch up with itself....

Btw the Manitowoc 18000 is so large that the crane hook looks like an anchor.

This might be a dumb question, but the exterior columns, what are they going to do to fill in between them? Like steel or concrete? Then im assuming that is what they will put the glass on

From the ground floor to the 3rd floor (the floor where all the diagonal columns start branching) they well pour blast walls as protection against truck bombs. Above the 3rd floor it's all prismatic glass curtain wall, no further structural steel needs to be added.

Great pics everybody, I love seeing the prints become reality !
