UTSA pumps $1.2 billion into SA economy in 2008

That is estimated to support almost 16,000 jobs! This is huge considering the schools impact grows each year. The school also produces human capital in the form of 4,607 degrees awarded in '08.

UTSA is the 5th largest employer in SA (behind HEB, USAA, Methodist, and Baptist).

UTSA is great for SA, I just wish SA supported UTSA. I can't wait til they start playing at the Dome and we start seeing some development at the DT campus. Maybe once we get some football at the Dome, people will start to show UTSA some love.

side note:
That has to be "private" employers. Not trying to steal the thunder but the Federal Government has a pretty substantial lead even on HEB. I know you think that they are "temporary" residents, but the job posting stays here in SA, regardless of who takes the position. 345,000 jobs in 2008. 2nd in total jobs only to DC. Ranked 3rd in Top Cities for your Government Career behind DC and Arlington, VA. More to come with BRAC and other movements. We might hit 400K by 2012.
Its not a bad thing, not every job is military. It might be a good way to keep the graduates here instead of skipping town once they get those degrees and put them to use.
