Some pictures of newly renovated WINNERS store.
(Pictures are from Retail Talk & Share NB group on Facebook).

I really like the new layout and design. Looks a lot nicer than the previous one.

Wow, that's a big upgrade for Munro's compared to the run-down shack they're in now.

Looks like House Of Chan is opening a location in McAllister Place.

(Presumably, this will occupy the vacant food court spot next to KFC).

I'm guessing it'll be more in the style of Millidgeville/Quispamsis House of Chan than Brunswick Square House of Chan?

Yes. The Millidgeville/Quispamsis ones are owned by the same people behind the Brunswick Square one. And these newer House Of Chan locations are just a more "modernized" version, in comparison to the original Brunswick Square one. The media section of the website has an article from back in 2014, talking about the Quispamsis one. In it it mentions:
Quote:
Holly and Ken Singh, the husband and wife team behind the award-winning restaurant Thandi on Canterbury Street and the House of Chan in Brunswick Square, open the doors on yet another entrepreneurial adventure. Today, a second House of Chan, located at 10A Millennium Drive in Quispamsis, welcomes customers to enjoy the Asian cuisine Ken is well known for.
Quote:
The Singh’s wanted to modernize and rethink the usual design around their new Asian | Chinese restaurant so they enlisted the design services of Judith Mackin and her team at Punch Inside, a commercial & residential interior design company which has been responsible for the design of several restaurants and bars in the city.
Quote:
The new restaurant, the first of what they hope will be an Atlantic Canadian franchise, is designed with progressive design elements. All elements of the space not only boast a modern aesthetic but the materials and designs are environmentally forward-thinking. For example, each bright red chair from Loll in the dining area is made from approximately 138 recycled milk jugs in each chair.

An interesting thing was found on Indeed.com. 16 days ago there were job listings that poped up for a store called Labels (going in McAllister Place).

On this site: http://oberfeldsnowcap.com/clients/labels/ I found out what Labels is: it's a off-price department store banner of Les Ailes de la Mode. It carries various ladies’, men’s, young ladies’, young men’s, teens’, tweens and children’s wear, as well as footwear, lingerie, and jewelry. They also list store square footage as 10,000 - 20,000 and shows expansion plans for Canada. So maybe this is one of the retailers going in the former Sears?

Source of one of the above job listings: https://ca.indeed.com/jobs?q=mcallis...XNCXVxd50BJH64

There is also a listing that popped up 15 days ago for St.John's Newfoundland (Village Mall) and that mall lists Labels as a tenant http://thevillageshoppingcentre.ca/stores/labels/. So I think that might confirm that Labels is coming here in SJ. A very nice catch/addition for McAllister Place.

Construction status of the new dollar store on Somerset Street
(Next to NB Liquor and Atlantic Superstore)

(Photo is from Retail Talk & Share NB group on Facebook).

There is a rumour on Retail Talk & Share NB that someone was told from someone they know who is close to the construction company constructing this store (Bird) that this is Dollar Tree. However based on the permits that are online it says "Dollarama" so I guess it's a "wait and see" kind of thing.

Spirit Halloween is coming to SJ! (First time since 2012, I believe).

For some reason though, it says "Spirit Halloween Fredericton" lol. But it lists that, it will be located at 90 Consumers Drive next Pier 1 Imports (the former Addition Elle). They're planning to open on Sept.6th!

Over on Retail Talk and Share NB group on Facebook, there is some "insider" info about the new tenants for the former Sears.

Suspected to come is:
  1. Mark's
  2. The Brick
  3. Sephora (apparently a public announcement from them is to come in the next month or so).
  4. Urban Planet
  5. JYSK (https://www.jysk.ca/)
Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1690...4002167499147/

Quote:
The unit at the far right I believe is Jysk. The unit on the far left is definitely marks. The Brick will be around the corner facing Consumers Drive and Sephora and Urban Planet will be part of the new interior corridor. The Brick, Marks and Jysk will have both exterior and interior mall access.

Yeah...both Esso and Wilsons are part of that holding company.

If that's true, then I could see Esso maybe building a larger station on that property. But it might involve the full demolition of the 3 Mile structure.

That would probably mean the closure of the current Esso gas station as well.

o.o
