Most people have probably missed the news about a new walk that has opened in West Vancouver.

In past years dozens of luxury mansions have gone up with fantastic views.

The new walk is quiet yet a fun little stroll through the forest.

Highlight of the walk is a 200-metre wooden Trestle Bridge.

View towards Vancouver is nice from most of West Vancouver.

At the bottom there is a pop-up village which has a nice pizzeria that is very busy on weekends.

Cypress Village will be a new neighborhood going up in coming years and will be home to 7,000 new people.

That's really cool! I used to drive up there just for the views and wasn't aware a more pedestrian centric walkway opened up.

West Van looking quite nice. I think the BP is trying to open up the area a bit, it was always known as somewhere so exclusive you would drive through and gawk at the mansions, but you would never really stop or having anything to do up there other than drive around and look. This shows they are at least starting to make it a bit more dynamic. The picture with those women sitting on the grassy field overlooking the city is pretty cool, didn't realize there was anywhere up there you could sit and do that, I guess it may be new?

Without meaning to be a dick, I sincerely hope there's a plan on how to get people up and down the slope without driving. The last thing we need is more cars on the North Shore.

Yeah, I had completely missed the news about the new walkway as well. Apparently it opened up already back in December!

The pop-up village is built where there has been a large open area just before the first switchback on Cypress Bowl Road. It's basically a real estate showroom but with some nice grass and a fun little restaurant.

People living in West Van will always rely on cars. Sure, they are talking about a bus connection to the upcoming Cypress Village but let's be honest, people that will live in $2M+ homes don't take buses.

Some photos from our drive around residential streets of Burnaby and Coquitlam last December.

Deer Lake Christmas lights with Lougheed skyline in the background.

Lights at Burnaby Mountain Park look like levitating.

Colorful lights in Burquitlam area.

Coquitlam residents take the holiday season seriously.

Burnabites don't fare any worse.

Brentwood skyline from Halifax Street.

Quick pitstop at Burnaby Village Museum just before closing time.

I was gifted a ticket to go and try out the Eagle Coaster, Canada's longest alpine coaster on top of Cypress Mountain.

I haven't been up Cypress Mountain for few years, so I was surprised to see few new structures having gone up next to the Creek Lodge. Looks good and the place was bustling with hikers.

The coaster zig-zags down the mountain with everything being powered by gravity.

Enjoying the view on the way up.

I was the very first rider for the day, so I was able to push it as much as I wanted. The track is 1,719 meters long and has an elevation change of 279 meters, offering speeds of up to 40km/h which feels rather fast so close to the ground.

Carts are very simple and only have a seat belt and a brake lever, allowing one to adjust their speed. I was full speed most of the time and only braked slightly in some corners, as the ride can be a bit rough on your back.

All in all, I had fun and was actually wanted to do another go. Tickets for the 3 - 3.5 minute ride are tourist price at $35 for single ride and $52 for two rides. In my opinion it is worth it to do it once and I am happy Cypress has introduced a new attraction to the city.

Fort Langley is a nice little suburban town tucked away in the Eastern Lower Mainland.

It's a small town where almost everything is centered along just few streets, but full of nice old heritage buildings.

Fort Langley Community Hall has been seen on many movies.

There is a surprising number of breakfast restaurants in the area, many of them really good, too.

McMillan Island on the other side of the Bedford Channel has some nice trails which we have previously visited.

Fort Langley is very popular especially during summer weekends and patios are bound to be full when the weather is nice.

Vintage and Farmer's Markets are a common sight.

This was our first time actually spending some time in Fort Langley and it is a fun place to check out. We were quite lucky it also not being quite as busy on the Saturday we went, as it can be packed on some days.

I dont think I've ever even driven through Fort Langley let alone walked around. Looks like a beautiful place for a day trip.
