It's weird how some can't or didn't want to bury the hydro lines going to the houses. (Ie 60 Geneva)

What a great thread!

I've been in Toronto now for a couple of years and I really feel like this is one area where Ottawa shines! In Toronto there are tons of tear-downs & rebuilds, but I feel like a larger proportion of those are done in more traditional McMansion style rather than the interesting modern designs featured in this thread.

My parents live in Champlain Park and I know that area has a bunch of houses that would fit this thread. Someone with a camera should go there and have a field day. If not, I might do so next time I'm visiting...

One of these homes is the residence of a senior employee of a company involved in the land development industry. Surprisingly, they don't live in a home that was built by their employer.

In your batch of 7 photos uploaded yesterday. I like the Ferndale example and by using the different imagery dates on Street View you can see how it changed over time.

I'm surprised they were allowed new enclosed garages on the property lines of the Ferndale semi; I thought those were verboten now.

Most houses on Ferndale have shared lanes between the houses, so they would have been allowed to keep the parking configuration this way.
The new proposed infill regulations are all easily laid out in the user friendly, easy to understand to the regular homeowner new by-law that will be in effect sometime soonish (enactment date depends on who you talk to). Sorry can't link it into this posting.

If you look back in time the old car ports weren't enclosed. I didn't think the new infill guidelines would trump the minimum set-back requirements for structures, which I thought was a metre or more. Pre-existing structures are grandfathered, but if you're replacing something, my understanding was that you would fall under the current rules, and have to apply for a (minor) variance for any exceptions.
