Is it just me or is the Bentham got a rediculous small site. Or are they going to tear down Lasalle body shop?

This is a nice looking building. Also happens to be exactly next to where I was standing a couple years ago when I witnessed a drive-by shooting.

The Sinclair pool deck will be blocked by sun for most of the afternoon. Why these builders continue to put their pool to the east of the building is beyond me.

The New City area. Altium Village is visible in the bottom right corner.

2-17-17 Just for fun, not very construction update worthy, but a nice shot coming home.

It was the other way around first, but those NIMBYs at that dump called Eliot House threw a hissy fit. They're still not happy with the plan.

Understandable someone might think that, but by the time the development was first presented to Eliot House residents, Steven Fifield had already migrated to the current permutation (tower on SW corner of the site). Whether he made that move pre-emptively to garner community support is another question, but he definitely got/has some from many EH residents who appreciate the upgrade from the crappy sea of the old Jewel's parking lots.

Not ideal siting, but the sun won't be blocked by the building until 4 pm or later during months that the pool is open.

Obviously not everyone who lives there is a drug dealer. I know a non-dealer who lives there, actually.

But the bigger issue is that SROs in this city have weird regulations. Most won't let people on disability live in them, for example. They also require income above a certain level but below another level. So, let's say you have full disability you almost certainly can't afford market-rate rent in this city, but you also are disqualified from most of the SROs you might otherwise be able to afford. So unless you win the social services lottery or come from a family with the means to support you beyond what disability pays, you have an extremely high likelihood of ending up homeless due to poorly-considered public policies. It's really a frustrating situation for anyone in that situation or trying to help someone in that situation.

Excellent photo. The amount of cement and steel involved in that one photo is heartwarming. Just a beautiful city. Thanks for sharing!

I mean, you can see that the pool is completely bathed in sun in the winter light in this picture, right? I think the placement is fine.
