On another note, are there any rumblings of moving the inter-city bus station currently located on North Atherton?
Thought I'd bring back some meal memories for you mville.

I just ate there last weekend when I was in town! There was a 45 minute wait, but it was worth it. It was nice to see so many tower cranes up on campus and around downtown.

New Mixed-Use High-Rise Proposed for Garner Street Lot

Looks like a new proposal for a very underutilized lot in town.

^ Yeah that's looking pretty sweet. Wondering if this below view implies they would actually project games and other things, or if it is just a possible idea for a graphic over the windows.

I guess this pic I took last year makes sense now:

I was wondering about the last rendering plan, does this mean all the current retail buildings along College Ave between Garner and Hiester will be replaced?

That's a lot of businesses affected, wow. The new building will be amazing though from the looks of it.

Just checked the Rise camera again. I didn't realize there is a time lapse option at the bottom. I'm getting old and miss a lot of things.
Very nice.

I always feel like retail dies at Mclanahans, if not there, then Mcdonalds. I wonder if this building and the businesses it attracts will give people something for which to walk farther down College ave?

^ Even though the hearing was only for Phase I of the entire project, the issues raised seem very surmountable.

Quote:
Councilwoman Theresa Lafer suggested blocking the sidewalk off from the street somehow, like with shrubbery, to prevent pedestrians from easily walking off the sidewalk into the street. “Shrubbery is easily picked up,” Lafer said. “You have no idea until you watch trees travel in undergraduate hands.”
This made me laugh
