New render!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1885...4334687850823/
The facebok post in the Yimby Gothenburg group says:
"DI writes today about a project in Kista. A full block of what is IMO real multifunctional city. 429 apartments (38 500 m²), 464 hotel/longtime units (19 000 m²), 12 000 m² sports, 7 000 m² offices, 4 500 m² school, 5 000 m² other including a food store, 3 000 m² plaza restaurant, café, 10 000 m² parking.
Why aren't more projects like this done? I can see a city with units like this wall to wall and communication between them not just at ground level
I also see the posibility of a future Heden [6 blocks large gravel football & parking surface in Gothenburg's inner city] with football fields on the roofs.
Any thoughts of big multi-use blocks? Is that how the Central-area [redevelopment of industrial & railyard right by Gothenburg Central Station] will be?"

The article (in swedish, no render): http://weekend.di.se/nyheter/slar-et...-racketsporten

According to those who have access to the paper edition the article states the taller tower will be 160 meters and 45 floors, the lower tower will be 35 floors. Given the same floor heights the shorter tower would be 124 meters. So I'm changing the title to reflect this.

The article also states construction is years away since the official planning process hasn't started yet and the financing is far from done.

If you only banned those nasty words of 'individualism' and 'jealous' from your strange Swedish vocabulary as we French should do from our own, I have that feeling that your town would've been an arrogant, or say insolent explosion of highrises for long by now.

Same goes to Copenhagen and Oslo. And to the French towns as large as these.

hehe, I'd say it's down to how modernist dogma has ruled the urban planning for 80+ years here except in in the older inner cities where the backlash against urban renewal still makes it very hard to get anything done. I.e. sparse enclaves along highways and subways plus a inner city with a what is functionally a pretty hard height limit. So where there's a market pressure for building tall they've not been allowed. What's changed is the metro has grown bigger and slowly densification of the suburban areas plus new rail infra plus high pressure on the residential market means there's now more places where the market says building tall makes sense - and the City says Please do. Kista is one such place.

I'm skeptical about this development given the uncertain state of Stockholms housing market. The units will be on the expensive side and with that sub par location, I think they will be hard to sell (or rent). By sub par location I mean Kista (far from city, socially in a going in the wrong direction), next to a highway and quite far from the subway. The only things the project has going for itself is its height and being close to many offices.
But given the amount of unsold units and how many that are coming online in the next years, I doubt that it will get built.
