Yes, I wonder what the reasoning is behind that. I thought it looked strange. Maybe it's something to do with the tower being so slender? Anyone?

It is strange, but the Fox Tower (foreground right from the last picture) went up the same way. It seems that the core rose so fast that the retail floors (1 and 2) could not keep up with the core. So, they ordered the steel for the east side to chase the core in order to keep raising the crane (with supports). That is my best guess anyway as I am not working on this project.

Fox tower core went way high all alone. But later the steel went up "normally" floor by floor.

A fair bit of progress since I was there in June. Looking good!

Hot one in PDX, 101. The building looks great from the south side looking up, which is the pic above. Took a great pic looking up this side today from the water park below but can't upload it. The building was giving off some heavy gleaming and glinting in the hot pdx sun.

It's mostly complete from the exterior, but I was there a couple of weeks ago, and there was still some work to be done on the ground level and some missing panels. So not quite complete, complete just yet.

It plays very well with Fox Tower, which is nearby. We really don't get the coverage hear that Portland deserves. There is a ton of construction going on downtown and north of downtown, with a nice all glass residential tower going up in the Pearl District that could hold it's own in the downtown skyline. Where all the Portland forumers at?!?!
