You really realize how small this planet is from an airplane. The fact that you can easily see the curvature of earth from the ground also show that (if earth was the size of Jupiter you probably wouldn't be able to see the curvature at all, thus be able to see the skylines from some crazy distances). Nice Vancouver pic, where was it taken from?

FWIW, on a clear night on top of Mount Washington NH, it's apparently possible to see the city glow from Montreal to the north and Boston to the south at the same time (no skyline though).........

That's a great picture! I was just in Montreal and Vermont that same weekend.

Would Mont-Royal be visible with the naked eye on the horizon?
