:O

I love it! A real skyline, not just a few tall buildings in a row.

Last weekend updates, Maastower (165 meter):

the cladding has a deliberate transition from dark to light grey:

All concrete walls except the core are prefab, allowing a construction speed of 3 floors per 2 weeks.

Last month, the calypso project has started!

pictures of the drilling:

The preparations for the construction of a new market hall have begun. This is how it will look like:

Directly beside it, a new city block called Rotta Nova will be built. It is a multipuspose buidling, but most of the space will be apartments. The height will be 78 meters. Not spectacular, but these buildings will enhance the urban life here. I love all open spaces, the terraces and balconies and the setbacks on this tower.

Wow.

Talk about getting modern, cutting edge stuff. What kind of people are buying/renting into these buildings? Who are they aimed at?

^ So am I, and pretty badly. Much of what's getting built in central Paris looks almost underdeveloped compared to this. Heavy shitstorm over here.
Dammit.

^ Fantastic. Wow, I'm even kind of stupidly thankful to this right now. Wish it set the very standard to follow for the roughly 1 million people metro areas over the continent. But it's gonna take a certain growth and wealth we don't have yet to achieve it...

^ Well, Rotterdam is perfectly suited for towers, but not every metro. I would hate to see Ile de France or downtown Amsterdam be torn down to make way for scrapers.

Interesting development near Rotterdam central station; FIRST Rotterdam. A 130m tower under construction right now.

Oh come on, why wasting the time in saying obvious things? There's just much room beside the historic cores of all our cities. Of course, Rotterdam is a little particular.

^I apologize for stating the obvious. It would be nice if more European metropolitan areas had the ambition, vibe and standards of Rotterdam in terms of architecture and urban development.
