Raheem Edwards is not in the same stratosphere as Tabla.

Even the extremely hyped up Alphonso Davies is not as good as Tabla.
Raheem Edwards is a starter on an MLS side that's at the top of the table right now, even some national team players like Osorio, Ricketts and Morgan aren't starters in this team. He has more assists per start than any player except Vasquez on this team (the league assist leader and FC Barcelona product). Tabla had an article on MLS soccer praising him till Raheem Edwards came on the scene, now Edwards gets all the hype from the commentators and articles/videos.

lol, at your Cyle Larin remarks! Tabla's 2 goals in 8 appearances is nothing, Cyle had 37 goals in 68 appearances, to do that consistantly over 2 years is phenomenal, he plays next to Kaka (former FIFA player of the year) and nets way more goals than him. He's also scored at the international level. Cyle Larin was the Rookie of the year last year and likely to be one of the league's top scorers again, many of the world's top teams are scouting him and he'll likely be in Europe before long...Tabla is not in the same stratosphere as Larin! Your lack of footy knowledge (as has been proven in the past) is showing itself again

You clearly have never seen Tabla play. The kid is better 1 on 1 than Piatti, that's how big his potential is.
Listen to Biello's half time speech. He clearly puts Ballou Tabla in the same category than Piatti (players you can base an entire gameplan on).

I said he is going to be better than Larin in 2-3 years, I am not talking about the present.

But because you want to... here are the MLS goal totals of those respective players at age 18:

Larin: 0
Edwards: 0
Tabla: 2 (just turned 18 so he has a full year to add to the total)

I don't even know why you put Edwards in there who is a similar caliber player to Anthony Jackson-Hamel.

If you were that much more knowledgable than me, you would know not to use the top of table team argument when you guys have Altidore, Giovinco and Bradley.

I see both those guys called up to the National team today - but no sign of Tabla?

He was born in the Ivory Coast, is he eligible yet at the Senior Level?

Same with Davies, born in Liberia, not eligible yet to play for Canada

He just turned 18... give him a season.

In 2016, he was named Canada's top U-20 player despite being one of the youngest player on the team (age 17).

In 2014, he was named Canada's top U-17 player despite being only 15.

Awesome news about Davies...

Couldn't find a more appropriate thread to announce that Team Canada Women's soccer will play the US Nov 9th at BC Place and down in the states 3 days later.

Toronto FC is certainly living up to the hype. Best record in MLS featuring the most exciting players. They will probably win the shield this year and should have better than 50-50 odds to win the championship.

Vancouver barely hanging around a playoff spot and Montreal looks like one of the worst teams in the league. Why is that?

Consistency and stability. The new club manager gave the pre-existing coach and management team contract extensions and they in turn reduced turnover among the roster. Giving the coach time to develop his system and the players enough familiarity to get used to it and gel well with each other helped everyone improve their overall performance. Vanney went from being the worst coach in the league to a pretty well respected one. This is the same strategy the new club president used to good effect when he took his previous low budget team to a championship and cup.

I should have specified my question was in reference to Montreal's poor record thus far.

Montreal was doing well last year with their old system. Not sure why they switched to the 3-5-2 / 5-3-2. Considering Toronto was the only team using that shape it may have been a case of "it's more important to beat Toronto than to win the cup". The new shape has improved their results vs TFC but it has left them vulnerable with other teams since it doesn't make the most of Montreal's roster.

Having the highest salary in the league (by a considerable margin) doesn't hurt, either.

Not saying that paying big bucks guarantees success, but in a lot of cases, you get what you pay for.

It's still a bit early to predict the outcome of the season but things are looking good for TFC.

Alphonso Davies is living up to his billing so far in the Gold Cup - 3 goals in 2 games
