Nice ones there Deepak. I guess that's the 300,000 sqft departure hall
in the Intl' terminal under construction on the left end of your first photo. That will take the total area to close to
800,000 sqft.

What's needed urgently is the expansion of domestic terminal. CIAL now handles
1.4 million domestic passengers. Total traffic is a whopping 3 million per annum.
Last year the growth was 38 %. Imagine the way things will be as all the ongoing projects like Vallarpadam,
SEZs, Tech parks are completed. By 2010 a traffic of 5 million is just reasonable to expect even with less
than 30 % growth.

If you are able to get the pics of Wipro buildings u/c post it here.

Kochi generates over 80% of states commercial taxes. Commercial taxes make up more than
85% of states tax revenue. Here is the news

Quote:
Ernakulam tops in resource mobilisation drive
New Indian Express
Tuesday March 20 2007 13:01 IST

KOCHI: Ernakulam district is on top in the resource mobilisation drive in the state, with a record collection of Rs 5,300 core in the current fiscal.

This marked a whopping Rs 700-crore increase, compared to the same period in the previous year.

This comes around 87 percent of the resource mobilisation target of Rs 6,211 crore and the last few days of the financial year is expected to add an amount of Rs 300 crore more to the collection.

The Deputy Commissioner’s office (Commercial Taxes), Ernakulam, which collected around 80 percent of its target, contributed more than half of the amount, while the District Forest Office, Malayattoor, achieved the maximum in terms of percentage.

State-wise, the office is known to be the highest revenue-generating office. The District Registrar Office has recorded an increase of Rs 100 crore, compared to last year.

But the District Lottery office, which generated a revenue of Rs 46 crore on February 28 last year, could achieve only Rs 13 crore by the same period this year.
This highlight the need to give topmost priority to Kochi in development spending. More the money is spent on Kochi's
infrastructure, more revenue it generates for Kerala. For past 5-6 years all politicians across party spectrum have realised
this, but has not translated into action yet.

KMC

I had seen this. But did not post as it did not have anything exciting yet.
Is KM trading a big player ? Do they have any other projects around ?

PS: I hope you have got the list of builders i sent earlier. If not, I will send it again

Meanwhile, Sobha has acquired more than 300 acres of land at Maradu for Hi-Tech City. About 100 acres more is needed will be taken over by april and construction would start in May. This report is from Mathrubhumi supplement.

Another news, CIAL touched 370 services a week mark and thus qualify to be upgraded
to Metro Airport status.

Yes Renik, That is the new departure terminal. When this will be completed, old terminal buildings will be used for domestic passengers.Already old arrival terminal is converted to domestic terminal now.

A night shot taken from flight. The aerobridge is connected to the second floor of new arrival terminal. The third floor is not in use now. I think that is made for future aircrafts like A380, having more height.

I am posting a news clip on Sobha Hitech park from Mathrubhumi supplement.
But what are they planning to do with large tracts of land they purchased near CIAL?

Rashtra deepika reports that Achumama&co are trying to steer away potential investors in Kochi to other districts by saying tht there is no free land available .
How can a party can stoop so low and say white lies with such conviction? If there is a scarcity of land in Kochi, why are they decreasing the FAR?The truth is that there are lots of "free" land in Ernakulam but communists doesnt want it to develop .Almost all coastal states are vying for a PCPIR except Kerala. Is Mr Achumama sleeping? How about bringing atleast one of these central institutes to Kochi.
1.Maritime university
2.School of planning and management.
3.National institute of design.

Actually investors are willing to go to Trissur, Alappuzha and Kottayam due to the
proximity to Kochi. But things end there. No investor believe govt. Otherwise
state would not have been lagging in IT for example. IT majors started flocking
to state after Kochi emerged as a destination.
So even if some elements want to forbid growth of Kochi, it will simply go to other southern states as Kerala does not have any other credible investment destination.

Abad Mall is already under construction at Maradu , It seems a 14 storied building. Any news on Saihathi Group ,
There was a roumour abt Infra Housing's Mall project at Vytila - any news.
And what is the Building coming at Kadavanthra Junction (Opp DD Milestone), No one has yet posted a rendering on that . Last time when I visited there , It was already 2nd floor started . I heard a roumour that it is a 14 storied Hotel ( Not sure and no renderings in place) . Dont know why the promoters are not puting any rendering there.

That Kadavantra building was once identified by Bhasid. I dont remember the name.
Apollo had announced their plans sometime back.
