Vancouver - Downtown - More Central, and Yaletown Waterfront

Vancouver is the 8th largest city in Canada by population (630,000) and is the largest city of the Greater Vancouver Census Metropolitan Area in British Columbia (containing 2,460,000, the 3rd largest in Canada).

Downtown is located on a peninsula surrounded on three sides by Vancouver Harbour, English Bay, and False Creek. I will define Downtown as including the adjacent districts on the peninsula of Central, Coal Harbour, Davie Village, Gastown, West End, and Yaletown.

This thread will focus on more of the central area of downtown's recent highrises, generally a few blocks away from any of the waterfronts; it will then proceed on a tour of the Yaletown area's waterfront.

Here is a selection of the recent highrises:

Yaletown Waterfront:
Here is a tour along False Creek from the Burrard Street Bridge to the Cambie Bridge, where it is adjacent to Yaletown; this waterfront stretch is all new construction from the past 20 years.

Vancouver looks clean, green, futuristic and a bit empty. Wonderful set, cheers!

It's clean, but at least the areas in this set, it feels a bit sterile.

Thank you, keep in mind I tend to photograph with few people in the shots and I think it was a weekday when I was on the waterfront so the paths were not as crowded...anyway I think it was not as empty as it seems here!

it is a quieter area of the downtown, which makes it a nice area to get away from the more crowded areas like the convention centre/coal harbour area, the olympic village area is also busier. This part is usually pretty used by locals, but on a good day the seawall can get pretty busy. I really like George Wainborn park.

Tis a wonderful area to explore, but yes, tends to be a bit sterile and quiet.

I am surprised to hear that the park is so underutilized...it certainly was fairly empty on the weekday of my visit but I thought that it would be busy on a weekend.
