The Translink design group really needs a major overhaul. Did they get a teenager who was on summer vacation to work on those new signs? WTF indeed!

Are you sure they were not just warming up for April Fools Day?

The destination signs need to be abbreviated some how so the sign is not flashing over 3 or 4 times for 1 destination.

Question, was this just PHOTOSHOPPED? I've never seen the offending signs and I've been travelling through the station almost everyday.

^ they should've renamed the station to Commerical Dr.

What happened to this sign? It should also say "An Expo Line Station" along with a logo...

No need because that side of Comm'l-Bdway (LMAO) serves both Expo Line to Waterfront/King George and Millennium Line to Waterfront/VCC-Clark via Columbia.

^ Bah, enough of this interlining of Millennium and Expo... too confusing to the non-daily transit user. I know half the trains divert each way from Columbia, but that is no reason to put two labels on the old line. After Evergreen finishes, I hope that they name the entire east-west branch by one name, call the old line the Expo line only, and they can name the short Sapperton-Braid branch whatever they want (the NDP line?).

That's what I'm thinking. I have never seen this so-called offending sign, and it wouldn't make sense to just put one up while the rest are Commercial-Broadway. If this was real, someone on this forum would've caught it.

Vancity Buzz isn't exactly a reputable source for this stuff guys.

Well from Vancity Buzz, thank you for pointing out the blog name paradigm

Quote:
Now I know why they shorten the names on the actual bus but at the stations platform signs, that is completely asshattish. Who knew TransLink hired a texting savvy 15 year old teenage girls to do the signage. OMG!
Glad someone noticed this and fixed it as it now says "Commercial - Broadway", like it was supposed to originally. With mistakes like these I can see why TransLink expects to see a budget shortfall.
So the lesson to be learned is to read the entire context before drawing conclusions. I'm not surprised it was Cmm'l-Bdway, but like many others said, I myself don't remember reading that sign. They've done a lot of changes to the signs since. For instance, the platform 3/4 signs were changed multiple times: before, only one side of the sign said the platform #, and the other side saying the other platform #, which was incredibly stupid to me. They've fixed that since.

from the buzzer:

The new Commercial-Broadway Station entrance is open!
Hey—the new 10th ave entrance at Commercial-Broadway Station is now open!

Go ahead and use it: there’s a lovely new staircase leading up to platforms 3 and 4, a shiny new up escalator, plus great new lighting and glass walls at the ground level. (See the full list of upgrades here — plus here’s what it used to look like.)

Just be aware of a couple of things:

* The elevator is still out: it’s awaiting inspection and will be working soon!
* The ticket vending machines at the new entrance are cash-only today.
* Watch out: some construction is still going on!
* An official opening will happen in a few weeks.

I have to say it’s pretty exciting that the new entrance is open so soon. Remember that the initial end date was December 2009? Plus, it’s great that we never had to close the station during the whole upgrade period!

OK, now here’s a few more photos of the new station entrance, plus links to past upgrade posts.
