⇪ Yeah, I have a feeling it will be Wells Fargo..... Maybe U.S. Bank should be considered since it began here in Portland..... If that happened I know Wells Fargo, would no doubt, have to be dropped from their sponsorship of the Blazers....

Omg hell no...comcast is terrible! Not only are they a huge, faceless company but they could give a rats ass about this area and the tradition. At least something like nike, intel or adidas have some local flavor.

⇪ Yup, I agree pdxman.. It doesn't make sense (too me) to let Comcast get the naming rights since P. Allen is heavily invested in Charter Cable...regardless of Comcast's current broadcasting agreement with the Blazers...

Alaska Airline's Horizon Air Garden? It seems all airlines have an arena but Alaska.

The Comcastic Rose Garden?

Comcast doesn't have a monopoly on the market, at least not anymore. Verizon is building a Washington County network that I believe is now working. Qwest received permission from Portland to build a network but they have since decided not to.

When I lived in a downtown apartment tower my cable was from something like Metro One, although I don't think that is the name?

Blazers to upgrade RG arena

Quote:
Mensah noted the Blazers' several green initiatives, some of which resulted in the team and its business partners achieving gold LEED certification status for the Rose Garden. Mensah and team president Larry Miller said the team is seeking platinum status, the highest level possible.

Mensah said one of the biggest energy usage impacts for the team is the number of people who use automobiles to travel to and from the stadium. The Blazers have advocated for its fans to use public transit and bicycles, she said, "but we're addicted to our cars."

Mensah gave a shout out to team owner Paul Allen, who she said provided seed money for the creation of the Green Sports Alliance. In its formative stages, the organization was dominated by Northwest teams: the Trail Blazers, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders, Seattle Storm, Vancouver Canucks and those teams' playing arenas.

It's about time. The RG needs a lot of work. It's quickly falling behind many of the NBA arenas. The commons area of the RG is almost as bad as the Target Center in Minneapolis.

The Trail Blazers have announced that they will have a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday to make a major announcement regarding the future of the Rose Garden and the Rose Quarter.

Stay with OregonLive for more on this.

Last week, Blazers President Chris McGowan sat down with The Oregonian's Mike Tokito. Among the highlights from that interview:

McGowan said he expects the Rose Garden to have a new moniker by the time the Blazers start playing next season. The arena has not had a corporate name since it opened in 1995, but the Blazers have been working with Premier Partnerships since January to sell naming rights to the arena.

Let's hope they sold out for a better name than freaking Jeld Wen. Holy cow. There should be a law against atrocious renaming.

The Rose Garden Arena is now "Moda Center." Oh, brother. At least it isn't as awful a name as Jeld Wen Field.

Rose Quarter redevelopment: Forgotten, but not gone
Wendy Culverwell

Quote:
Plans to overhaul Veterans Memorial Coliseum at Portland’s Rose Quarter may be forgotten, but they are far from gone.

...

Chris McGowan, nine months into his tenure as president of the Portland Trail Blazers, said the deal will yield immediate updates to the Rose Quarter, including new signs, improved event-oriented food service, landscaping and upgrades to the fountain area.

Job No. 1 is improving the experience of people attending events at Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

...

The city had planned to invest $31.5 million to redevelop the coliseum this summer in partnership with the Portland Winterhawks, the coliseum’s chief tenant. The city would contribute $21.5 million through its economic development agency, the Portland Development Commission, and the Winterhawks signed on for a $10 million contribution.

The deal was literally days from council approval in late 2012 when the Western Hockey League hit the Winterhawks with sanctions for various infractions. Then-Mayor Sam Adams pulled the deal off its agenda and rescheduled it for March 13, 2013.

...

The mayor’s office could not provide an update on its current status. While the Rose Quarter project was a top priority for Mayor Adams, it apparently is not one for Mayor Hales. Hales outlines his five top priorities on his Web page. The Rose Quarter is not on the list.

....

The PDC’s $21.5 million share of the project is included in the budget for the Oregon Convention Center Urban Renewal Area, which includes the Rose Quarter.

“The plan quite frankly is they’re backing up a little bit, taking a hard look at the economics. It’s the changes you’d expect given the changes at city hall,” he said.

Wendy Culverwell covers real estate, retail and hospitality.

Trail Blazers fans will have plenty of food options beyond hot dogs, nachos and beer this coming season. On Thursday, the Rose Quarter announced an expanded food lineup at the Moda Center that features some of Portland's food favorites, including Bunk Sandwiches, Fire on the Mountain and Sizzle Pie.

Earlier this month, the Oregonian learned that Killer Burger...

The Moda Center logos featuring a purple rose have been unveiled by Rip City Management and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Installation of the new signage at the Rose Quarter has begun, and the signage for the arena formerly known as the Rose Garden should be installed by Nov. 2 for the Blazers' home opener against the San Antonio Spurs.

“We wanted to make sure we went through a thorough design process with the creation of the Moda Center logos,” Blazers president and CEO Chris McGowan said in a statement. “After a span of more than three months, which included countless renderings and proposals, we are really pleased with the end result.”
