I'm glad there is finally a philly project to actually follow instead of all these proposed bldgs. I like this project because it will make the water front more busy and not just open areas of grass.

P.S. As long as we're building skyscrapers on the waterfront for the SugarHouse hotel (yes, I know, that's Phase II) and Waterfront Square, I see no reason why Pier 40 North won't come back out of the woodwork when the market heats up again some.

Sorry, I didn't get a good shot when I was on the El heading past...

But the metal framing looks to be mostly done; laying the roof trusses and beginning façade work should be the next parts (especially as this is being built in the strip-mall anchor-store style).

When can we expect the hotel? When Sugar House becomes popular? I'm guessing the sales will play a factor.

New photos! (Yay!?)

By the way, they're replacing a sewer under the north side of the site. I corralled a construction guy and he told me so.

I would imagine they have to address the water runoff situation with a new sewer because of all the impervious asphalt they are laying down on the parking lot.

It's more than just that. Remember, back when this used to be an industrial site, it was blanketed with impervious surfaces--just like the old PECO station, e.g., still is. From what I gathered, they're replacing an outflow (or adding a new one?) in the general sewer network. (He said something about 40-foot pipe and that's just way over-the-top for 10 acres' worth of impervious surface.)

I don't think that's on the SugarHouse site...

That's the Trump site, right? Between Sugarhouse and WFS.

I think the Trump site was the next lot to the south of WFS. I'm not sure who owns the ferry.

Yeah, Trump lies on the south side of WFS. (Interestingly enough, the onetime mouth of the Cohocksink Creek is that inlet between the two sites.) I believe that the ferry pier's owners planned a condo at the height of the last building boom but I have no idea what happened to it. Deader than a doornail now, I suppose. Although as SugarHouse gets filled in that site's going to become more valuable.
