They are taking down all of the blue roofs and putting up exterior like the new stuff.

There is also some rumors about what will be going in where staples is. Some people are throwing around the idea of a hotel. Hopefully with ground floor retail... That would go right from staples to dollarama.

That's great news to hear that they're thinking about doing something with the Staples building. I was worried it would sit empty for a super long time. I wonder what kind of hotel they would put there. Might be a good thing to see! Any word if the Doolys is closing up or what will happen to it?
It's nice to see some new changes in Sackville. Im still trying to figure out if any new stores are going in the Atlantic Gardens (Tim Hortons) building by Margeson Drive, and if any commercial development will start soon at the Margeson Drive exit. Anything rumoured recently?
Thanks

I heard that it will be moving to the space below Shoppers, either where GoodLife or Reitmans was.

Cool!! Looks like theyre renovating beside Battered Fish to put something in there now too?

I also heard where the old swiss chalet was that it will either be a hamachi, steak and stein or thai restaurant. Has anyone heard anything?

I saw a ton of equiptment at twin brooks recently. I think theyre getting ready to go full tilt in there. Was talking with a builder, he said they will be doing semis, townhomes and some detached at the front of the subdivision

The crane is up and the first floor is mostly done (as of last week). Didn't get a picture because it was too dark when I drove by.

Does anyone have any new info on Margeson Drive area? Hoping for some action of a gas station or some sort of sign of business development. Saw a new Pharmasave is opening in the Atlantic Gardens complex by Tims

HRM PLANNING CASE #19041

Boulevard Property Inc is looking to add ~18'000sq ft of retail along the east side of Sackville Drive in the Leaside/Pinehill neighbourhood. Both buildings will be two storeys tall and consist of a glass and what appears to be tilt-up concrete exterior. It is located at civic #527 which has a funeral home currently on site. It will be located adjacent to McDonald's in the "three stoplights" / Sackville Cross Road area. There will be 6 CRU's total with the largest being roughly 5'000sq ft.

It's a slight improvement over current building design standards in Sackville. Glass is rare along the existing commercial stretch and there is dedicated walkways to the front doors without having to cross through an oversized parking lot.

The application is seeking a development agreement for the site. All commercial over 5'000sq ft in the Sackville Drive SPS requires one.

The excavation has started for the buildings in Sunset Ridge along Margeson Drive. Excavation, digging and grading has been going on for several weeks now.

This proposal is going forward to NWPAC for feedback next week. There are quite a few detailed renderings in the report. The more I look at it the more I like it.

Staff Report

On another note the Downsview Tim Hortons (next to the former Staples) has closed. Sackville now has Timmies on Beaverbank, Sackville Drive (past Margeson), and a drive-thru next to the former Downsview location. The hotel rumour persists but my best guess says its a good spot for a restaurant similar to Boston Pizza, say Montana's, Swiss Chalet, or dare I say Earl's or Five Guys.

Even as more people switch to online shopping or flock to the big box stores at business parks, there’s still a need for main street retail. Or at least that’s what developer Boulevard Property Inc. is hoping with its latest proposal on Sackville Drive.

Two commercial buildings, totaling approximately 18,000 square feet could be located at 527 and 533 Sackville Drive if the developer gets the go-ahead from HRM staff and North West Community Council when it comes to a vote.

There's another new development proposal for two 4-storey apartment buildings, with a total of 124 units, and 10,000 sqft. of commercial space at the corner of Walker Avenue and Old Sackville Road, where there is currently a commercial building (a truck caps place maybe).

Details are here: http://www.halifax.ca/planning/appli...060Details.php

From the proposed development concept:

Almost seems too modern for Sackville, but I like it.
