Speaking of La Senza, it badly needs a reno, which makes me wonder if it will even stay in the mall once VS opens on Robson.
It was a handbag store-can't even remember what it was called. That's a really tiny spot though, I'm curious what will take over.

To replace the cramped one there? The Bench space is not very large, unless another adjacent tenant will also be leaving soon...

Le Chateau perhaps? It forms an L-shape around the Bench space and would certainly not be missed.

Remember when Le Chateau was the Topshop of its day? So trendy to so WTF, haha.

Le Chateau has a way of tricking 16 year old suburban kids (read: me) that it's trendy...until they grow up and learn that poly blend is never trendy.

It was genuinely trendy back in the early 90s though. The kind of corporate mall store where artsy girls and gays worked, just like Topshop is now.

Apple? Really?

But the facade will have a kink in it -
they'll have to diverge from the standard corporate look.

The difference though is that Topshop/TopMan drive fashion since they are a huge player in UK fashion and London street style. I doubt Le Chateau ever had that much pull or influence, probably more like mere copiers of fashion (think Urban Behaviour now or any of the 3rd/4th tier retailers). And for the record, I also grew up a victim of Le Chateau - I think my highschool grad year would have been the last years to buy their "formal wear" for our proms.

FYI, in Cantonese, many of us called Le Chateau, "lap sap tong" meaning trash bin.

looks like the DENMAN PLACE CINEMA owners have taken over the lease of the Bollywood Type Cinema at Joyce and Kingsway.

now renamed >> http://collingwoodcinemas.com/

will have a Bollywood and Hollywood mix of movies at least to start. interesting.

Last time I went to that theatre it was hilarious. There was full on scaffolding and painter sheets everywhere. The scaffolding didn't quite reach the roof, so meeting all safety standards I'm sure, a rickety old wooden extension ladder was perched on top of the scaffolding ! Our own imminent death due to collapse of the structure added to the overall excitement of the Bollywood action movie.

wow that will make the 1200 block the super block for luggage .... haha

hopefully we see the Ex-Whitespot Space upstairs integrated with the space the luggage place is leaving.

also for the sake of the 'hood I hope they are keeping their retail postal outlet.

I really hope Canadian Greetings de-clutters and makes huge improvements to their appearance prior to re-locating to 1202 Robson. That space is extremely visible and a shabby looking business with merchandise all over the sidewalk and cluttered signage, could impact an area, already suffering the loss of many retailers, in a very negative way. Sad to hear they're the one's taking the trophy space for that corner I was really hoping for something far more visually appealing.

At least it won't be cluttering up the nicest block anymore. That entire building should be redeveloped actually.

Canadian Crafts beside the Forever 21 building should also relocate somewhere else.
