Lol. I live in NY and didn't even realize they changed the signage, agreed LMich, it looks terrible! Bring back RCA! Although even the GE was better than Comcast.

I was--in an shamefully asinine way looking back on it--responding to what I thought was your calling the tower formerly known as the RCA Building "wretched".

I'm sorry if I took whatever disagreement with your comment I had too far.

I'm not good at defending the honor of a city I live nearly 40 miles from with a great deal of humility....Need to work on that.

Though, I could do without that wretched Comcast branding. lol

I have to agree. I'm thinking it is unique to the communications world. When Nacchio took over Qwest he slapped a neon blue sign on the top of the building that was as obnoxious as his ego. In the winter when the leaves were off the trees, the light lit up my bedroom. Now I have CenturyLink green... This type of signage besmirches the beauty of our buildings and rightfully belongs in Hong Kong - or Times Square. IMHO.

@LMich:

I feel more foolish now than before with my earlier stupid post in response to your initial Comcast comment.

Because just now, I noticed that the word you used was branding and not building.

My reading/typing glasses are weird.......

No worries. We all make mistakes. Hopefully, it's a lesson in being more careful about reading and not being so quick to pounce. 30 Rockefeller is a beautiful example of the art deco style of that era, one of the best and purest examples, in fact.

There's going to be a lot of high-end luggage wheels stuck in those cobblestones

Highest end stuff doesn't even have wheels. You're supposed to pay someone to carry it for you!

This building has three unique looks. Driving through today, you can see the striped terra cotta, the balconies on the CP side, and the flatter lined glass on 57th. Very cool. An instant icon.

Thank god; I agree!!
Nothing wrong with Comcast, but bring back GE!!

Anyhow, I wonder if the millennial’s will ever appreciate the lower Central Park skyline.

I may be older in life, but I remember a time when having supertalls at Central Park was a wishful thought.
