Seems like they were taken by someone working for either the contractor or a 3rd party with access rights.

The investor (Hochtief) is organizing trips to the construction site - that guy probably was in one on these trips.
BTW: And I was there too - one trip was organized specially for members of Polish section of Skyscrapercity

But now something completely new:

New apartment tower by Daniel Libeskind announced (192m)

Orco Property Group takes the Warsaw residential market to a new height
(15/09/05 18:00 CET)

Orco Property Group and the Polish born, world renowned architect Daniel Libeskind have applied for planning permit and have made an official presentation to the city of Warsaw authorities for a high rise residential project on Zlota Street, Warsaw. In order to respond and complement the quality of the Warsaw skyline and the Palace of Culture, this iconic high-end residential building has been carefully and proportionately configured with a crown ascending to 192m in the Warsaw sky.
With this project, Orco intends to contribute to the wider cultural and social life in the center and bring the biggest capital of central Europe into the arena of the wider world of architecture and cities.

Libeskind to Build Warsaw Tower

The Associated Press

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

The 45-story apartment tower will be built in Warsaw's business district

WARSAW -- Polish-born American architect Daniel Libeskind, designer of Berlin's landmark Jewish Museum and the master plan for New York's Ground Zero, has designed a 45-story apartment tower to be built in downtown Warsaw , a city spokesman said Friday.

When finished, Libeskind's sweeping glass tower is expected to rise to 192 meters, just a little short of the city's Stalin-era landmark and tallest building, the Palace of Culture.

Libeskind presented his plans to city officials on Thursday in Warsaw, where they were positively received, Warsaw chief architect Michal Borowski said.

Borowski added that city hall was enthusiastic about building a residential tower in Warsaw's growing downtown business district.

By doing so, Borowski said, Warsaw "can avoid a central business district that is dark at night, where people don't live."

Pending final approval of the design, construction of the building is expected to start next year and finish in 2008, said Marcin Roszkowski, a spokesman for city hall.

Libeskind envisions restaurants, cafes and art galleries at ground level, with apartments filling the rest.

Earlier this year, a design by Libeskind for a planned museum on Jewish history in Warsaw was rejected in favor of an austere design by a Finnish team of architects.

Since communism's end in 1989, the Polish capital has been shaking off its communist architectural past and its ubiquitous bloc architecture, and now hosts a growing skyline of modern glass towers centered around the Palace of Culture.

The landmark was a "gift" from the Soviet Union in 1955.

Libeskind, 59, was born to Holocaust survivors in the central Polish city of Lodz and became a U.S. citizen in 1965.

About the Libeskind tower: What about the existing Holiday Inn building? From what I understand, the new tower is supposed to occupy the current location of the hotel. Will the latter be brought down? It's relatively new, isn't it?

The tower will replace the City Centre shopping gallery, which is right beside Holiday Inn, but closer to the Palace of Culture. Both were built in the early 90's and in a similar style. City Centre has been basically empty for a while now because of newer, more modern and large-scale shopping complexes which have opened up all over Warsaw (Arkadia, Galeria Mokotow, Blue City, and soon Zloty Tarasy across the street).

City Center, well... It has been a while since any modern building was demolished in Wawa. I think that's the newest of them all as well as being closest to the centre. The only other one I can recall ist the Orbis building. Interesting...
