Approved by McBane!

Although, what's up with the rendering that makes it seem like this tower exists in a bubble? What happened to the rest of the city??? LOL

Lol. Just quicker, cheaper and easier than putting the entire city into the rendering behind it. I would rather that than adding buildings to the city in a rendering that don't exist like the Mellon Independence Center Tower rendering.

I think market east is destined to be the rich neighborhood.

Well this building will be built in what is considered Society Hill, which is the wealthiest neighborhood in Philadelphia. Market East could certainly be a wealthy area however.

Truthfully, too many projects at once could look like a "hodge podge" of different designs that clash, or just looks out of place. (I've seen some of the renderings at Market East, and I'm not really impressed with the designs.) I hope I'm wrong. (And let's not forget, a possible Market8 casino? keeping fingers crossed that this area will progress in a more "fashionable" order.)

Really? Building too much adds too much diversity to the skyline (correct me if I am misinterpreting you)? What's wrong with this location?

Article on Philly Living about this. Seems to be lots of details on the tower, not sure how many are new, if any are at all.

Thanks for the article! It looks like the official height of the tower is 325 feet, not 380.

But the article also says that it "will be a little taller than the Penn Mutual Tower" (which it also appears to be in the second rendering in your first post), and Penn Mutual is 375 feet tall:

http://www.emporis.com/building/penn...delphia-pa-usa

I suspect that the author just took the 12.5-foot floor height (could that be ceiling height?), and multiplied it by 26 floors to come up with the 325-foot figure.

I'd leave this at 380 feet unless and until there's official confirmation that it's only 325 feet. But what do I know?

Yes. You're right. Looks like the author is wrong and the height is 380 still.

The developer said that his company has already made $48 million in pre-sales without doing any marketing except for an ad in Philadelphia Style magazine.

Very nice. Maybe there is more demand in Philly for high-end highrise condo buildings than a lot of developers think.

New article on the building: http://www.phillymag.com/property/20...-luxury-tower/

It's really going to revolutionize luxury condos in Philadelphia for the lucky few who can afford to live there! But maybe there will be a trickle down effect. I've always felt like ceiling height in many Philly condos is too low and that there's not enough outdoor space compared to other cities I've lived in.

PhiLaw already posted this^^^ in the Dev. Thread.. thought I'd add to it here.

Also, developer states 11 ft high ceilings. 26 floors x 11 ft = 286ft.
But there's the lobby and the mechanical stuff on top ... so guessing maybe 325ft ish?

There was a little debate a few months back (see above) - if it will be taller than Penn Mutual Tower at 375 ft. I'm guessing - probably not.

However, I don't care here - whether it's 325 or 400ft etc.... This is great news, and that tower looks sleek as hell.

Ground breaking should be early 2015 definitely, since the target opening date is Spring 2017. Very cool.
