Lots of new stuff!

My new models: The John Hancock Center & Eiffel Tower! (Based off of Spencer's original designs) Click on the pictures to see more.

Believe it or not, I will have two more models before I display them all at Brickworld 2011!

Wow, These buildings are amazing.
I've seen the on brickshelf before, but not lined up like this.
I definitely like your WTC set.
Currently i'm working on a WTC set in LDD, but my set will be about twice as big as yours. I can show you some screenshots in a while.

My own lego skyscraper set

Hello all,

Here are some more screenshots of my skyscraper set:

The Twins Next to my Sears/Willis Tower in the same scale:

Some images from the other buildings:

SORRY FOR THE LARGE IMAGES!!

The two towers, which are connected with a kind of bridges, both have 151 stories. They are about 115 cm high (about 45 ich).
The plaza is 128x88 studs.

I also made a pricelist with the prices I would have to pay when I order this set via Lego.com/designbyme.
This list can be found here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=472692
The list is a .xlsx file.

For those who can't open the file:
the Twins cost 2.760 Euro's ($ 3897,50)
the complete set costs 4.685 Euro's ($ 6615,90)

Please let me know what you think of this set.

Are those angled 3x3 corner bricks at the corners? I like that technique- I know ART has done it.

Your spire definitely has to be extended and widened though

No, the corners are 2x2 tiles mounted on a 1x1 brick with 2 studs which are placed at a 45 degrees angle.

I know my spire is a little undersized, but I'm working on that.

Announcing my upcoming display!

Brickworld is a 5-year running convention featuring thousands of square feet of MOCs built by AFOLs and teenagers. New this year is the entire ballroom that will be filled with just vendors! There are also many activities that you can observe and/or take part in. Brickworld 2011 will be held in its usual location at the Chicago North Shore Westin off of Lake Cook road on Milwuakee Avenue in Wheeling, IL.

I will be displaying twelve skyscraper models that I have completed since 2009. Each will have information cards alongside them.

For event info, dates & times, and more specific directions you can check out the Brickworld website.

On a side note... I plan to design at least two new buildings over the summer. I have decided that I will not, however, disclose the LDD files for my upcoming buildings until I have completed them. Simply because I'd like to be the first to make the model I design. But rest assured I will show a few screenshots!

In the meantime... guesses permitted

A Lego with sharp edges cut my finger when I was little, and I've born an irrational loathing for them ever since then.

NOT an official LEGO Architecture set , but still very nice. The exaggerated angles remind me of my own much larger model. In the proper colors, this would be quite lovely.

That does look pretty nice.

I think the "cheese grater" pieces in general would be much more useful if they were made in a few more colors. Obviously the black and dark bluish-gray are useful but all the other colors are not so desirable for microscale purposes.

Indianapolis represent...

Here is an incomplete model I am working on. Indianapolis' Monument Circle conforming to the Micropolis building standard. None of the buildings are really in scale with each other because I was going for detail. The Chase Tower is 700' to the roof and 12" here.

At Lego convention, a life-size Batman, a 10-foot Pennybacker Bridge and other creations

At the first statewide Lego convention in Texas on Saturday, 2½-year-old Isaac Schrup gazed up at one of his heroes.

A 6-foot-5-inch Batman made entirely of Lego bricks towered over the boy. Wearing a Batman T-shirt and rain boots, he boasted about trying on the black cape tied around the superhero's neck.

"It's cool," he said shyly.

The hulking Batman is one of many creations at the four-day Brick Fiesta, which continues through today at the Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark in Southeast Austin.

One of about 150 exhibitors and family members at the convention, 13-year-old Evan Bacon said he spent three months building the Batman replica, which he called a sculpture.

"I love how its an art form," he said. "It kind of tricks the eye. Up close, it looks like a bunch of blocks, but from far back it has its own shape."

On Friday, Bacon won first place in a speed-building competition after constructing a Lego lighthouse in about 20 minutes. Today, with a team of five others, he's shooting to set the world record for the "fastest build" while constructing a Lego Star Wars starship in about an hour and a half, he said.

Other activities for convention-goers include a heap of Lego bricks sprawled on the hotel lobby floor that attracted quite a few children Saturday and some shopping. Vendors are selling Lego wares such as "brick" jewelry and individual Lego pieces that customers can cobble together.

Speakers are also in today's lineup. At 11 a.m. Anthony Sava is scheduled to discuss how to plan, build and transport large Lego creations, and he's brought evidence to back up his expertise. Among the Lego creations he's exhibiting is an estimated 60-pound cathedral that he spent four months constructing and that was inspired by St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York and Chartres Cathedral in France. Sava estimates he used from 5,000 to 10,000 pieces building it.

Here are some more photos of it.

JSR, have you ever thought about possibly recreating all of Manhattan in that scale and maybe selling it to Legoland or something?
