the base was designed by a different architect, so no surprise there. (leave it to the local architect to ruin a great design)

Isn't this project more or less completed? When I drove by recently, it appeared as though people were moving into Marilyn Monroe.

The first tower is complete, but balconies still need to be installed on the second tower.

Great, great towers. Really grand addition to the 'sauga skyline. Shame about that base, though. Holy mismatch, Batman.

Pretty much the nicest residential towers in the country, but yeah, the base is totally off.

Aw shucks. No "floor-length" gown sort of base... Great shape buildings though I'm concerned about balcony access to high up.

Maybe we should wait for the base to be completed before complaining about it. Just sayin'.

Yeah, and no one will notice the base from a mile away either.

Here's the rendering of the base again.

Aside from the precast, which does not fit at all with the towers, it doesn't seem that the base will be that bad at all.

It is certainly at least a huge, HUGE improvement over the previous base designs (pictured in the OP) in many respects, not just aesthetically, but also in terms of urban design.

So I think we should wait before judging the base.

Those flying buttresses will make or break the podium. But it looks like they may have been value-engineered out. Hopefully they make it to the final design, but one would think they would have manifested by this stage in the construction, being more of a structural element than just a decoration or balcony glass.

Yeah, I don't think they'll make it into the podium.

Something weird is happening to me every time I look at these two buildings : I feel dizzy (really !!), nauseous !! It's physical !! I have absolutely nothing against these buildings except the fact that they make me feel uncomfortable all the time I look at them and I can't explain it !!!!!

Anyone has a similar feeling ? Anyone would have an explanation ? No other building I've seen in my life had these effects on me !!!

A type of Vertigo. People can often feel the symptoms of Vertigo when viewing photos, paintings or even watching an airplane in the sky, roller coaster on the tracks.
MC Escher drawings are known to cause vertigo for many people.

Maybe so but how can anyone explains that it only does that with these two buildings ? I have Escher's books at home and never have these reactions looking at them !!
