^ The Alexander area really felt like the "outskirts" of CC. It increasingly feels integrated with parking lots disappearing quickly.

That's progress for ya!
I hope more towers get built along the northern "outskirts" to extend "downtown" so you don't feel left out from the skyscraper party.

Hey everyone -- been gone from Philly for three years now but have been trying to keep up with all the construction. Can someone tell me what the black glass building is to the left of the Alexander? Not Comcast but the one that appears to be on 16th Street, kind of a few blocks north of 1601 Market. Thanks!

That is the reskin job on 1601 Race, the artist formerly known as the Glaxo Smith Kline building.

Platforming over the 676 seems inevitable if Philadelphia keeps building up. The resulting greenway would be a dramatic and integrated amenity that would go river to river.

So I take a little hiatus (damn computer) and I return and see that The Alexander is practically done. That's a nice surprise.

I don't think that the Sheraton is the worst looking building.
The one directly west of it is horrid. I hope that plan for the area goes through and the building is demolished

That building currently houses the offices of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. According to the Cathedral Campus Plan, it will be demolished if the plan is realized!

The exterior looks so close to being finished, but the windows on the side of the building look like their completely empty inside. It may be further from done than I thought.

Thank you to all the photographers. The original design drawings show areas of white highlights: several window groupings and the posts in the cap. Don't see them in these photos; could they still be to come? If you also look closely at the original illustration of the neighboring meetinghouse you can see some planned windows were eliminated and other windows simplified in the actual construction. Nice buildings, still, but would have liked to see them stick to original concepts, which to me were more interesting and inviting.

Some of the windows in the upper floors seem to have 'extra detailing' just like the original drawings showed, so I hope that the top of the building does get trimmed out in a way very similar to what we have been expecting. I like a building that has a 'hat'. Its a classy way to end a building.

I could be wrong but I think the areas that show up as white in the renderings is the sandstone we see on the building which is a gray rather than white.

I think you're right PHL10. It looked better in white in the render. But it's still a stunning, classy building!

So these luxury home units are going up across Wood Street from the Alexander and the Mormon meetinghouse?
From Philadelphia Style magazine, April 28, 2017:
NOVO Philly Unveils Luxury Townhomes in Logan Square
By Mary-Margaret Ewens
The April groundbreaking of NOVO Philly (327 N.17th St., 215-923-1028) brings a new 10-unit townhome development to Logan Square. Situated in the heart of the city’s art and culture corridor and within steps of the Mormon Temple, these five-story, extra-wide luxury residences boast more than 6,000 square feet, city views, and a footprint that promotes the flow of natural light into the center of the home...
