I give it a 7.5/10 It's an amazing skyscraper but some others rising and already built in the city puts the L Tower to shame.
Examples: Aura, Scotia Plaza, Ritz Carlton, FCP (imo), and the Ice Condos

This was proposed before One 57 in New York. Also they look nothing alike.

Tower looks great! the balconies look tiny though, not even usable space!

Ironic that people are talking about one57, it was on Super Skyscrapers on PBS last night.

The project is by Cityzen Development Group.

Some of their notable partners include Yansong Ma, Daniel Libeskind, Munge Leung, Architects Alliance.

Not sure where you got your "cheap asian developer" comment from.

Or were you referring to One57 being built by a cheap asian developer? I am confused.

Sad to say, but this one won't live up to its potential till it gets a re-clad.

True. The shape is amazing, the cladding not so much.

^ That's the case with a lot of Libeskind's highrise buildings. Very few of the finished ones turn out as nice as the renders. The main reason are the white "lines" he uses to dress the towers are usually expressed using vertical white spandrel glass, which ends up looking pretty cheap. Using fritted glass would address some of that perceived cheapness, but it would be a lot more expensive.

This one suffers from the above malady, but also from the east and west faces using window wall instead of curtain wall, so that the lines are broken up by the bright blue floorplate "caps". Add to that the inset balcony glass that forms broken lines of a different thickness, and you have what looks like a mess of 8-bit video game static. The curved north side, actually isn't that bad, in my opinion - it only suffers from the vertical striping malady, which in my opinion is liveable.

^ Well put. It would be interesting to see what this looks like if it were all blue curtain wall and didn't have the whit stripes and window wall issues. We can but dream.

Well I am glad some other people agree it looks messy. The shape is fine. But with all the building in Toronto this one will be soon swallowed up and just another tower.

I was in Toronto back in June, so these are old, but I am posting them nevertheless. This tower looks better in person than in photos and I did like it. More my Toronto photos in here and in other threads.

Just looking at it, I get a love-hate feeling for it. It kind of makes me think of a great design that's been watered down somehow. It also kind of looks more like an office building from certain angles but the balconies really throw me off. I give it a meh.

There are people who do things, make things, and then there are people like you, who give "meh" as critique, im sure the people who made this building very much care for that in depth opinion.

Klazu - I absolutely agree with your statement. When visited I Toronto during February 2013, this tower appeared much better in person. During that time frame, the structure was not even complete but it was still quite beautiful.

Maybe if they care enough they can pay me for it.
