I used to live on George Henry in a building that was demolished to make way for this project. There are now 5 cranes up in that block, with 2 more projects slated to begin in the near future (construction of the relocated community centre on Forest Manor, and demolition of the 45 year-old townhouses to make room for the next phase of redevelopment between Don Mills and Forest Manor).

It's okay. The building was about 45 years old and the landlord had begun to neglect it in an effort to drive tenants out in advance of the demolition. For those of us who stayed to the end, the last 5 months were rent-free (a deal the developer had to offer existing tenants in order for the City to approve the project).

That early 70s 18-storey building and all the others like it in in the neighbourhood are going to be retained. In the final phase of neighbourhood redevelopment, they will be gutted and rebuilt. And those towers-in-the-park won't be in a park anymore, as they're filling in all the greenspace between them with low/mid-rise buildings and townhouses. I'm assuming they'll remain rental units, unlike the new construction in the photo, which is all condo -- block-long podium with 3 towers.

So where do you live now since they tore down your old home?

Still in the neighbourhood, but a bit farther south. I walk by the construction site every day on the way to the subway.
