Looks like things are "winding down" at 2WTC for now. Most of the construction forms are gone and they've just removed the boom from the other tower crane. Hope they can resume in the not-too-distant future.

I love it when skyscrapers are too tall for the picture, it gives it that endless feel(referencing 1WTC in the background) hopefully 2WTC will be the same, soon.

What's the base width of this tower? I've searched virtually everywhere, and read every post in this topic so far over the past few months, but I'm still unable to find any information on the base dimensions. From most of the renders it appears to be a bit fatter than One World Trade.

From March 29, 2012 Board Minutes

WORLD TRADE CENTER STREETS, UTILITIES AND RELATED
INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM – PHASE II, PACKAGE II – FINAL STREETS
AND SIDEWALK SURFACES, STREETSCAPE ELEMENTS AND OPEN
SPACES – TOWER 2 – AWARD OF CONTRACT

Quote:
It was recommended that the Board authorize the Executive Director to award Contract
WTC-324.359.02, through construction manager Tishman Construction Corporation (Tishman),
to Paul J. Scariano, Inc., the lowest bidder pursuant to a publicly advertised/low-bid process, for
the installation of final streets and sidewalk surfaces, streetscape elements and open spaces
adjacent to Tower 2, along Vesey, Greenwich, Fulton and Church Streets
, as part of Phase II of
the World Trade Center (WTC) Streets, Utilities and Related Infrastructure Program (WTC
Streets Program), at an estimated cost of $5,315,706, inclusive of net cost work and an eightpercent allowance for extra work.

At its meeting of October 22, 2009, the Board authorized Phase II of the WTC Streets
Program, which includes the final design and construction of street and sidewalk surface
finishes, trees, paving, bollards and streetscape furniture, at an estimated cost of $140 million,
including the provision of expert professional architectural and engineering services by
Downtown Streetscape Partners, in an estimated amount of $5 million. Via a related action at
that meeting, the Board also authorized the retention of Tishman to provide construction
management services to support the WTC Streets Program and other projects at the WTC site.
The scope of work for Contract WTC-324.359.02 supports the areas surrounding Tower
2, including Vesey, Greenwich, Fulton and Church Streets, and includes the installation of
concrete sidewalks, granite curbing, bollards, street lights, traffic signals, concrete foundations,
asphalt surfaces, trees and streetscape furniture on Church and Vesey Streets, interim asphalt
paving on Fulton Street, as well as the installation of utilities on Fulton and Greenwich Streets.

The pre-purchase of granite curb materials to be installed under the proposed contract was
authorized previously by the Board. The pre-purchase of bollard covers to be installed was
authorized previously by the Executive Director.

Pursuant to the foregoing report, the Committee on Operations, acting for and on behalf
of the Board pursuant to delegated authority, adopted the following resolution, with
Commissioners Bauer, Moerdler, Pocino, Rechler, Samson, Schuber and Steiner voting in favor;
Commissioner Sartor recused and did not participate in the consideration of, or vote on, this
item. General Counsel confirmed that sufficient affirmative votes were cast for the action to be
taken, a quorum of the Committee being present.

It tells you everything but what that small space above ground is going to be used for. But I guess that's Silverstein territory.

It's getting partially built. The pictures I took were of poor quality and I just noticed them now so I can't upload them. I will try getting pictures again later on.

Edit: You guys just got lucky. I found the only good quality picture of the building I took today. This is it so enjoy it while you can until I get more.

Yep, it's quite difficult to get any decent shots of this building.

I'm sorta confused on how the "roof" is at 1,270 feet, but the pinnacle is 1,350 feet?

So are they going to put a 80 foot antenna/mast/pinnacle on top of the building?

Wouldn't the very tip top of the tallest "diamond structure" be the roof?

Here.

The flat triangle area is the roof which is 1,270 feet up, but the tip of the mast which is the highest point is 1,350 feet up.

^That's the rooftop parapet, main roof slab is located at floor 80 (1250'-1"); also the top of antenna is 1,348' above lobby floor.

It might be 1,349 feet to the roof, if that plan is still viable. The antenna or spire would go up to 1,420 something feet. I personally would want this tower to a twin height-wise to 1 WTC. Would give the skyline a little resemblance to how it was before 9/11. I would like to see a rendering.

Ahhh, I got you guys. Thank you for clearing it up! After I asked that question, I sort of questioned where the glass ends at the top 4th "diamond" as the roof.

Hmm.. in those cases it's preferable to analize the elevations of both buildings instead of measurements from their respective ground floors, Tower Two is located on a higher terrain than One. Lets see...One's top of parapet will be at El. 1679'-2" while top of antenna of Two will be at El. 1663'-11"... so difference between both components is 15'3".

*Zero elevation is 300'-0" below mean high tide at Batery Park Point.

Manufacturing of the glass for the mockup at the shop.

9 1/2" stainless steel fins that will protrude from the glass.
