And just before that season, we had a Canadian team make it all the way to game 7 and lose, also without riots.
The ultimate fate of Phoenix is still up in the air. Rumours are that New Jersey may be declaring bankruptcy (and taken over by the league a la Phoenix) any day now. And San Jose is bleeding red ink to the tune of $15 million. I think a lot of owners would welcome a work stoppage as it would help them lose less money.
CBA negotiations are JUST starting, so I'm not sure I'd agree with the previous comments that no one seems worried. No one's gonna show their hand until well into the summer. Fehr isn't known for playing light, and with the league losing a TON of money in so many cities, I see a lot of fighting.
