Hoquiam, WA

Since I'm feeling ambitious today, I think that I'll show you guys Grays Harbor County's second city - Hoquiam (pronounced Ho-Kwee-Uhmm). Hoquiam has a population of a little over 9,000 and borders Aberdeen to the Northwest.

What I found quite strange about Hoquiam is that while Aberdeen appears to have replaced many of its older public buildings with uglier and less urban modern ones, Hoquiam has left the grand public buildings and kept them up while letting the downtown decay. It's an odd contrast, but I guess it does make sense that these two cities that have a friendly rivalry going on would take completely opposite strategies. Hoquiam appeared more derelict than Aberdeen, but its prosperous history was much more apparent.

I'll begin with the 7th Street Theatre:

The American Veterans Building

The Elks Hall

Emerson Manor

City Hall

Hoquiam Depot

Hoquiam's Post Office (Bigger than Aberdeen's)

The Masonic Hall

US Bank

The VFW Hall

Timberland Libraries - Hoquiam Branch (An extended Carnegie Library)

Saron Lutheran Church

Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church

First Baptist Church

An old church (I believe it was Episcopal, but I don't know for certain)

The United Methodist Church

Immanuel Baptist Church

Alright, well that's all I got of Hoquiam!
Thanks for viewing!
