You really get an appreciation for how big this is when you're stuck in traffic heading to the Lincoln Tunnel. There's a moment where you can get a good look at the skyline as your making the turn towards the tunnel. Sometimes, the traffic is worth it!

And to think that it will be taller than the ESB.

I actually like the idea of that little walk-up across the street staying there in definitely just for the contradiction in scale.

Don't know how long it's going to stay, but Related is currently using it. They've filed demo permits for the former McDonald's, and I'm assuming the old Coach headquarters will follow as talks for a potential tenant at 50 Hudson seems imminent. It does show the huge scale of 30 Hudson pretty well.

Interesting video. Go about 23 minutes in, and Ross talks about the observation deck...

Dang. New York has the classic deck at the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock, and the recent addition of One World Observatory. Now they've got another, and if I recall correctly, One Vanderbilt is supposed to have one. And to think that some cities don't have them at all.

It's the bonus for us getting all of these new towers (and for the developers, a moneymaker). It's a nice trade off. Most of us won't get to the tops of towers like 432 Park, or One57. But observation decks, and particularly the various locations around Manhattan, allow different perspectives on the city we don't always get to see. Then you get something like the NY Wheel in Staten Island, which will be something totally different.

Ross has said there will also be jazz on the upper levels at night.

It's just amazing that the NY Power Grid can handle all of these buildings.
Technology in energy efficiency is really fascinating!

This thing is just unbelievably massive. It's probably 150 metres tall and it looks like it's just starting to rise.
