Does anybody know what was on the site of the One & Nine Condos? Wasn't it a couple single families? Its been a while since I've been in that neighborhood so I can't recall.

Looks like this project might have already broken ground since there is work going on on the north end of the lot.

I walked by all the store fronts and they are all closed and had moved.

Just thought I would share that with you all.

Cottonwood Heights: Wasatch Blvd. may become a retail hub

Developer is proposing hotels, retail near mouth of Big Cottonwood

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_10082847

At the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon

"We could go in there and put some strip malls in and nobody would be happy," said developer Gary Harrison. "But we don't want to do that. We want to do something we and the residents can both be proud of."
The plan is to put 25 high-end, single-family homes along Racquet Club Drive as a buffer between existing neighborhood and hotels, which Harrison said will cater to skiers, hikers and business travelers.
The development, he said, fits in with the city's plan to create a gateway.

My biggest problem with the Kirtland is the type of exterior materials used in several areas such as the gray portion, and also the bare concrete. The cornice is particularly awkward in it's design, as well the poor choice of finish material on the cornice surface. That upper left corner could have been much more attractive as an angular pop-out, similar to some of the features of the Metro. A big improvement could be made on this project with a little good taste in choice of materials in several different places on the building, and the cornice design.

Mayor Ralph Becker is developing an Executive Order for the expedited plan review for new construction and major renovation projects that meet certain sustainable building criteria. The purpose of this Executive Order is to provide incentives for "green" building. The proposed initiatives will be available to developers who agree in advance to meet and/or exceed the "Silver" level of LEED certification or achieve the standards required for an ENERGY STAR rating for homes. Mayor Becker is expected to sign the Executive Order on or about August 28, 2008. Staff is briefing the Planning Commission and will accept comments.

I'm not sure if I like the symphony development... It's so generic.

Great Pics this morning T-Mac, I just got off my Nordictrack, and now I'm out to mow the lawn. I think you're morning exercise was a lot funner, LOL.

A little comment about the Mountain America Credit Union project. Maybe my taste in this regard is a little different, but I have been very impressed with their new buildings around the metro, and how they have been interpreting this particular style. I think their projects will have a lasting appeal, and even someday take on a very distinct place in the local architectural history.

I like those little shops to the right of Mountain America. I would sure like to see them brought back to their original charm. Unfortunately, they'll probably be bulldozed. That would make a great little restaurant/club island with added sidewalk dining.

Update Mountain American Credit Union Project - T-Mac

I think if they use the right material on the exterior, it will make all the difference. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
