As the "Energizer Bunny" would say - "Still Going"!

Actually I do think that we should start to see some real progress on the building itself now. I have actually met with the COO a couple of times in the last few months and feel comfortable they have the financing to get the building itself at least completed.

Still some question as to how full it will be upon opending - but I think with the building actually up, it will be easier to get companies that are interested to commit. I mean at least they can give a realistic open date now.

Here is the FB post with a "drone" picture of the work site today.

https://www.facebook.com/PhoenixMart...type=3&theater

"Installation of Underground Pipe and Electrical Work Near Completion

Completion of the underground pipe and electrical work will pave the way for an exciting October. Portions of the footprint are already being back-filled and prepped for the initial pouring of the concrete slab. Throughout next month many important activities will commence; including the pouring of the slab, erection of steel support structures and tilting of the building’s walls."

Latest Drone pic in this link. This thing IS huge - no doubt. The cement work that has been completed in this picture is 50K square feet for context.

They are saying most of the cement slab, elevator shafts (you can see those on the left side of the picture) steel work will begin, and the walls on the short sides will be complete before month's end.

So - went to a Phoenixmart dog and pony this morning to celebrate going vertical finally.

Still plan on the outer "core" being done by end of year and an early 2018 opening.

I have pics, but haven't put them anywhere to post here so - here is a link from the CG Dispatch reporter that was there:

I guess the link has been removed. New one added. Sorry. I think everyone here has probably seen what cement tilt walls look like anyway! LOL

Been awhile! Believe it or not this project is moving along. As this article states, they plan to have the outer "shell" of the building completed this month. Masonry work on the fancy "entrance" is also now clearly visible - and eventually will be 100' or so.

This article says current plan is a mid 2018 opening:

Anything new on this? The Google Maps imagery is from this year, but there's no evidence of construction activity in the photo. The roof at the north end isn't even completed. The website now says a 2019 opening date instead of mid- 2018, but I can't find any news more recent than mid- 2017.

They appear to still be working. PinalCentral appears to carry all their press releases for when they buy air conditioners, security cameras, etc. You can see them if you do a general Google search limited to the last month.

Hello All,

I had a computer crash a while back and never got this forum back in my bookmarks (sorry!).

Anyways, yes - as it has been for the last few years - this project is VERY up and down - as is the way with somewhat cash starved projects.

BUT, the current official word is that the city should be done about now reviewing their revised interior plans - probably toned down a bit, and the sewer extension project required in a joint venture with the city is still moving ahead.

As someone mentioned they did just purchase (or signed an agreement to purchase) 1200 Photo Voltaic air conditioners from a Chinese company. It would not surprise me if the owner of that company is an investor in PM, and this is a way to help get more cash invested.

There is a 1 million dollar lien on the project from their cement company claiming lack of payment - but it was a 5 million dollar total project so it isn't like they didn't get anything at all - and liens are somewhat common in this world.

There ARE some background things going on (not public yet) that should help the PM cash position - but who knows at this point for sure how this will all play out.

The EB-5 program problems (not specific to PM at all) definitely put a hitch in their financing plans - and been tough to recover completely for sure.

BUT, I still hold out hope for eventual completion.

Retail Archaeology Video with Phoenix Mart

While browsing through a "Retail Archaeology" video on YouTube (they document dead or dying malls), there is an interesting clip where they are in the dead Tanger outlet mall next to the I-10. They stumble across the Phoenix Mart office and information center, which is only occupied space. Features a model and description, though I assume the project is closer to the dead mall in the video than reality.

Phoenix Mart starts around 23:10 in the video.

Enjoy!

Does this spell trouble for projects like PhoenixMart? Only time will tell I guess...

Quote:
Today, the Company was officially informed that PhoenixMart is not the target or subject of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. This announcement will pave the way for the company to focus on securing the financing required to accelerate construction. Our resolve is stronger than ever, and we are committed to completing this groundbreaking project as soon as possible.

The company thanks the City of Casa Grande, Pinal County, our vendors and subcontractors for their continued support and patience over the past 30 months.

Well another year on and it doesn't look like much has changed. The satellite imagery shows no activity around the main building and it looks like the roof hasn't even been completed on a small part of the northeast section:

https://goo.gl/maps/u59XterfCKD2

I tried searching for anything concrete, but all I could find was something from January 7th in the Pinal Partnership where the CG mayor says that PhoenixMart is ‘still alive'.

http://pinalpartnership.com/casa-gra...rojects-works/

If it is alive, it's on life support at this point. I'm guessing it's never going to become what it was billed to be. Anyone know anything else??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nothing really to report here - but I personally spoke with the principles on this just a couple of weeks ago in a pretty stern way - upset as a CG resident that this was in such a stall. They swore to me they are still alive and I should be pleasantly surprised soon.

We ll see. Even as staunch of a supporter as I have been...it is getting difficult to believe.
