Need Recommendations

Hello everyone. My father is coming for a visit this weekend, and I am looking for downtown Phoenix restaurant/bar recommendations. The midtown area would be ok too, so long as it is within easy access to the Metro light rail.

I am already familiar with some of the establishments in those areas of town, but they tend to be the more trendy, hip, and loud hotspots. My dad likely won't enjoy that type of place so much. Therefore, I am hoping you fine people can help me locate more subtle establishments that have a nice atmosphere, where we can sit and have a drink and something to eat, without having to shout our conversation.

All input is appreciated. Thanks.

The ones I would recommend are:

-The Breadfruit/Rum Bar
-Cibo
-Phoenix Public Market (Same chef from St. Francis, but at a more accessible price)
-Fez
-Pane Bianco
-Gallo Blanco

The list could go on and on, but these are my faves.

-Tom's Tavern
-Arrogant Butcher
-Friday's Front Row (nothing special in terms of food, but pick a seat that overlooks Chase Field)

Almost forgot about the Compass Room at the Hyatt Regency. It is somewhat pricey as dinner for two can easily cost you $80-100. The last couple of times I have eaten there the quality of the food has really increased. The atmosphere is something that your dad would likely appreciate...and the views aren't bad either.

The above are all good. Also, make sure dad (you too) has bottled water so he can stay hydrated.

A big thank you to all for the recommendations. Several of those restaurants I know of, but haven't been there as of yet. All of them sound good. I wish I could eat my way through downtown Phoenix in a day to make my choice. lol

dtnphx, good idea about keeping water with us. I hadn't considered that, but it will indeed be rather toasty this weekend. Thanks.

If anyone else has more ideas, please do keep them coming. I haven't made a decision at this time.

As of two days ago Scratch is closed. Owners went bankrupt.

You can't go wrong with Durant's. All others mentioned are good as well.
