Wow...it's been almost 20 years since I was in St Louis...it looks very different and very nice. I don't ever remember there being towers that far away from the downtown area.

KCGridlock, I don't know how many times you have been told this on ssp.com or ssc.com but you sir areGOD SENT. I especially loved the nabes during this tour of yours. St. Louis has such a unique character ( Red Brick) I absolutely love it. Truely an American Gem.
I vote you make your next trip a Washington- Baltimore- Philly- NYC- Boston trip... hey you'll be able to make 5 new threads of spectacular ariels and I know you love it. You know we freakin love it. Anyone second that???
Love your work.

St. Louis is so underated.
Nice looking city indeed.
I think St. Louis is overlooked because of Chicago same as us in Philly feel overlooked because of NYC.

My prediction is that St. Louis will have a boom it is too nice and has way to much potential not to.

btw KC comes through again with great pics

Underated indeed!

I moved to St.Louis in 1995 from the east and I absolutely love it.
The city has so much culture, diversity and beauty (especially in architecture).
The old bitch has been rolling back with a vengence too. Downtown is a vital new neighborhood and how wn both National and International urban renewal/renaissance awards and the inner city population is up for the past 3 years after years of loss to the burbs.
St. Louis has a wonderful METRO rail/subway system and really gives residents and visitors an easy way to get around the city fast.

I, on the other hand, found this one of my favorite pictures of Midtown and the Central West End.

I, actually find this type of infill somewhat needed in urban cores to attract the "suburbanite" to inner city living. A sense of the "suburbs" in the city. In St. Louis there is so much infill and a lot of infill is going this way in certain districts, but as you can also see, STL has an incredible dense housing stock throughout the inner city.

People are always amazed to see how dense the city is in comparrison to other midwestern cities. It truly does look like an east coast town.

Thanks KC for your great and hard work! We love it..

For the record, the mid-rises and towers in the immediate background are of the Central West End and Midtown, which are about 1.5 to 2 miles west of downtown's core. Think of downtown St. Louis' core being about 1.5 mile from the bottom of the picture.

Great pics, Grid. When are you going to do West County, Chesterfield Valley?

Just viewed the LA, Miami, and STL tours right in a row. Fascinating the way your work brings out each city's distinct character.
