To do/see in Montreal for the weekend?

I have an opportunity to extend a business trip over a weekend, and all it will cost is 2 nights hotel plus expenses, I've never been, but I know I'm not likely to get the chance to go there often. I do know it's mostly english. What is there to see and do there? I'd be by myself, which is a bummer. But I'm very curious. If I do it, I would fly in Saturday morning, May 30th. Stay Saturday and Sunday, work on Monday (but try and make it a short day), and my conference will be Tuesday and Wednesday, flying home Wednesday June 3.

How about it? anyone familiar with montreal that can provide some suggestions? Wish I had more time, but I just found out about the trip today.

What do you like to do? There are great museums (the McCord and the Montreal Museum of Fine arts are both on Sherbrooke Street), old Montreal, St Joseph's Oratory, the Botanical Gardens and Biodome, shopping on Ste Catherine Street and the underground city, the casino on Ile Notre Dame where Expo was, ride the Metro (every station is different), the Lookout on top of Mount Royal looking down on downtown, and millions of other things to do including eating and drinking.
I'm sure your hotel will have info on what to see and do.
Most important thing is be very careful as a pedestrian. The drivers definitely won't stop to let you cross the street.

Great advice Jimby! and I thought it was bad in Calgary sometimes as a pedestrian. That gives me some places to start from. I'll do a little looking around.

For those that don't know, there isn't a Montreal section here. There is a Quebec section, but it's all in french. Since everyone on this board seems very aware of the city around them, I thought there may be some that have been to Montreal with similar outlook.

and no, Montreal is not in Alberta.

It's worth noting that the Montreal Metro has an all-you-can-ride fare card that for three days will run you $17. Considering that the cash fare runs $2.75 a trip, if you're thinking of getting around and going places while you're there, it might be a worthwhile use of petty cash.

I grew up in Shawinigan and Montreal and I have never been back since I moved to Calgary.
So I am planning a visit at the end of June with a friend who grew up in Quebec City. It is going to feel strange to go back.
