I think to many of us were just stuck on floor count and in reality the floor height on these buildings is quite high. Especially some that are almost twice what per say that Deltas would be.

It is quite possible that the Tower 1 Crane might be coming down but the Carlton Ave closure must be for other things - it doesn't take a week to take down a tower crane. It can usually be done overnight or a day at max.

The portable crane they’re using takes at least day to setup and a day to take down.

Ok, I just don't recall taking down a tower crane to last 4 days.

yeah usually the boom takes a day to setup, then 1-2 for the crane itself. sometimes, theyll extend a day or 2 depending if its tied to the building since it takes time to dis-assemble that.

I am guessing too there is some slack time included to allow for winds as they won't do a lift if the wind gets over a certain defined speed.

Better to book the street closed for a few more days than may be needed and open it early than have to keep it closed longer than first thought.

Interesting how the units above the elevator in the residential tower will not have the curtain wall finish. They're framing in steel studs now which made me look again at the renders. So most units will have floor to ceiling windows (pretty much), the others will be more normal wall construction.

Another question for folks in the know. Is it typical of highrise construction to use steel studs with foam insulation, etc on the exterior. Not that you would want to, but someone could put a hole through the wall to the outside ( I know it will be covered in some type of metal as well). Instead of it being solid block on concrete.

^ The whole concept just sounded weird from the get-go. But I wonder what will take up that space now? That's a lot of room to fill.

I know this sounds strange but, I always find it a bit sad when a tower crane comes down in Winnipeg. It is such a symbol of progress and although we have been doing well lately it is still not common enough.

I would imagine in larger cities (Toronto) where there are ALWAYS handful of cranes everywhere it most likely goes un-noticed.

The article said a food hall was going there instead.

The large crane is back up today. Assuming they'll be continuing on with the crane removal. It spent the day in the down position yesterday.
