Anytime know what the colour of the building next door would be if it were given a scrubbing?

Probably yellow or buff brick! Westdale High School is bright yellow brick, its just really dirty.

If you look at the side where some of it was exposed to the soda blasting of the building beside it you will see roughly the same colour as the newly sodablasted building peeking underneath - so probably the same colour as the bricks that were used to fill in the cornice on that building.

I am curious as to whether they are going to take the bricks out of the filled in cornice space to properly anchor in a new cornice - the brick doesn't look too stable - perhaps that is why that particle board is slapped on the front there..

It's definitely buff/yellow. You can see a row of the facade bricks here if you look closely, just below the orange ones which are likely the inner layer of bricks/fill bricks.

eueueueueuhhhh we may both be right.

As evidenced in the circular area - that area on the arch looks like the same brick colour as the building beside it, however the diamond pattern INSIDE the arch looks to be the yellow colour.. perhaps it is a 2 coloured building? You can see the yellowish tan brick right underneath where they filled the cornice in.. I made the circle the yellowish tan colour the bricks might originally be to also offset the orange of that "exposed brick" on the arch inside of it more.

There is one other unsettling option as well - that the bricks are all yellow glazed, but clay coloured underneath that glazing - in which case that arch might be damaged showing the layer underneath the yellow. I really want to see this building cleaned now. That and with its original cornice put back on.

This entire project looks great...I am really glad that a lot of developers are refurbishing the older buildings, vs tear them down completely...

Hamiltonians have started to take a stand - whereas before their voices weren't being heard they are now - whether it was the city disallowing the thomas building to be entirely demolished, or the citizens speaking our against the king st buildings by the gore being torn down, or the entire restoration of westdale.. there is a real push to retain the heritage of the city, which I love

lol I like to pretend the particle board on random places on this building is like little bits of toilet paper after someone has nicked their face shaving, and the building is just one giant nicked shaven face haha..

This one is taking a while to progress.. I can only assume a lot of the interior work is being done right now over the exterior work.

Do we have any floor plans for this building yet? I'd love to see how the interior is planning to be arranged.

This is a sweet development, I'm impressed by the restoration done thus far. I can't wait to see this upon completion

the only thing that saddens me is that while these 2 buildings improve, the third building to the right of it just looks that much worse in comparison - I really hope someone restores that building as well.

I'm sure Happy Nails is happy, and not moving anytime soon.

neither will any of the payday loans. they grandfathered them in, thus making them so valuable they will never move out of the Gore. gvt gets involved they fuck everything up with regulations. just like the bowling ally in Eaton Centre, can't have video games bc in the 80s there were two arcades that they didn't like. meaning HPS didn't like. so they made a regulation for no video arcades downtown.

They were bragging that they had the only arcade license. It isn't BS.
