My God! I lived in Russia between 1988 - 1991 and the tallest building then was the Lomonosov University and now I see all those constructions and looks like a complete different city. Definetly I have to go again to make and up-date.

Wow, awesome. That spire will sure be cool when it's finished. Will it be covered in blue glass? Blue metal? or what? The skywalks will sure be cooler than the Skybridge between the Petronas Towers.

Good update!

I have a question, does the spire on this building count as the official height?
I personly can't see a reason for why it shouldn't but wikipedia
seems to say otherwise,

Quote:
Federation Tower 506 metres (1,660 ft) 360 metres (1,181 ft) 93 2009 Russia Moscow spire as independent structure, not generally recognized as a part of building[31]
www.wikipedia.org look under the area: Skyscrapers under construction

Is that right? The source seems to be from CTBUH.

If it's not the official height, wouldn't it be "antenna"?

I don't know what to think.
The spire seems to be linking towers1&2. Why would it be considered as a part of tower 2 ?

Woah, Moscow looks awesome from that angle. So urbanized and fresh.

I always wondered about that because it is actually an antenna but at the same time it connects both main towers.

I guess it's difficult to find the right facts because some people
consider this as 2(3?) buildings but skyscraperpage consider it
as one building with two towers. IMO dividing this building as two
independent buildings creates a problem; Which building has the spire?
None? Obviously the spire is not a freestanding stucture so it's better to
consider all of this one building. Personly I consider the Petronas towers as one building as well. But I have accepted the fact that it's officially two buildings and counts as that. This case is different IMO, it has three sky-bridges, a shared spire, and emerges into one building at the bottom(clearly).

Here's how the complex was described in Nov. 2004 :

Quote:
The taller of the two buildings is to top out at 1,115 feet, 249 feet higher than the continent's current champion Moscow's Triumph Palace apartment high-rise. In western Europe, the tallest building is Frankfurt's 850-foot Commerzbank.

With the two curved-wall buildings sloping away from the central tower, the $315 million complex will "call to mind the sails of a brigantine" ship its developer Mirax-City claims.

The popular weekly magazine Vsyo Yasno came up with a different, though equally gushing analogy: Don Quixote and Sancho Panza jointly holding a spear.
I'm also inclined to see it as one building, like Bergenser.

Wikipedia is open - so everyone can vandalize it promoting its point of view. Spire is hardly a freestanding structure and most probably will be connected to east tower. In anyway - it's generally recognized as a part of east tower and CTBUH doesn't even have a right height for a roof of east tower.

I don't how acurate this diagram is, but the spire is connected to both towers.

it's old design. roof is now supposed to be at the mark 360,4. there will be 3 bridges, instead of 5 and all of them will be located at steely mechanical levels of east tower. so i think parts of bridges that will be connected to east tower will provide supporting function. it's my imho at the moment.
