Yes! totally agree. These pics are much better than the usual run of the mill store bought book.

A few months back I was looking for a photo book of Calgary to send to my girlfriend's parents in Ottawa so they could get a sense of what Calgary is all about. There are only a small handful of books that actually feature the city and don't focus on the Rocky Mountains. Out of the books that focus on Calgary most feature photos that are rather out of date (the old Devonian Gardens for example). We eventually settled on one book called "Calgary: The Energy Capital of Canada". It featured some nice photos and nice little write ups about the city but also had pages of just random condo towers in Eau Claire... almost to say "Calgary: we have high rise condos". Anyways, long story short, the majority of the photos in this thread far out shine most of the photos in the book we bought. You can tell you have an artistic eye and a real love of the city. There are one or two other resident photographers on skyscraper page that also manage to take stunning photos of Calgary on a regular basis. If you could find a way to combine your photography skills with some brief write-ups about the city and find a local publisher I would be more than happy to buy multiple copies of the resulting book to send to my friends and family abroad. Food for thought as I think you really have the skillset to blow the existing books out of the water.

Your pic inside the Calgary Tower of sunset and the Muslim woman taking a picture of her husband (?) is really exceptional.

You know, it takes a special kind of citizen in our fine city who really cares about the local economy and the direction we are going in the 21st century to really showcase all of the aspects through the camera lens. I think Surreal has the keen eye for what this city is about and did an awesome job showing these to the rest of the SSP multiverse. A well balanced mix of skyscrapers and the street realm as well as some socio economic aspects plus cultural diversity.

Those hardcover books at Chapters/Indigo or at the Hudsons store inside the airport are for most parts, utterly inadequate for showcasing Calgary for the travellers. I agree SSP photos are way better quality and motive than most of the hardcovers I have seen of Calgary. If there is a book for every city published by SSP resident photographers of their respective cities, I would have a bookshelf dedicated to SSP!

Great job man!!

Fantastic set of photos Surreal! You really do need to put these kinds of photos into a book and publish them.

Some amazing photos of Calgary by Neil Zeller. All photos are hyperlinked to his website. I encourage all to check it out, he could even give Surreal a run for his money!

Those last pics are nice, but are way too processed for my taste.

Great photos! I've always liked Calgary.

That last set would have been much better if not for all that HDR baloney.
