I have in the past. But somebody just goes in later and makes changes, so I don't bother any more.

I agree about some of them, but I actually like Skyloft and Aspen West Campus. And I think the one going up at 22nd & Nueces will look good with its sloped roof.

Yeah there's definitely a few good ones in WC for sure - The Pointe on Rio is a great one. But there's so much more junk going up with terrible detailing (windows in the same plane as the walls making for flat facades, etc)...not to mention the low quality materials that are gonna look like sh*t in 10 years...

Have we heard anything on this one? I couldn't find anything on the forum. This was only filed last week. It's for the lot opposite APD's garage.

TOWERS explains what's going on with it. It's a Sackman (70 Rainey) project:

New Metro GDP figures show Austin zooming past the competition. We have an economy bigger than Cleveland, Columbus, Cinncy, Orlando, Kansas City, and a host of other cities that used to dwarf us in terms of local economy. Scroll down to the tables listing all the metro areas. https://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/reg..._metro0917.pdf

Nice. I got annoyed by the (lack of) sorting though, so I did the top 35

Why has San Antonio's economy always lagged those of Houston, Dallas, and Austin?

Here are the plans for a project called the Scarbrough Sidewalk Cafe at Congress & 6th:

From the drawings:

Awesome. I hope more places on Congress start doing this and we can get rid of parking on Congress once and for all!

Define "always".

Generally speaking it has to do with workforce education levels and the industry that it has attracted over the years. Dallas and Houston being larger economies isn't a surprise, but I think Austin somewhat should be. That said, state capital, flagship university and a desirable quality of life have been big wins for Austin.

I think San Antonio only in the last 15 years has tried to make real investments in the city to improve QoL and they are starting to see real rewards for things like the river walk extension/Pearl redevelopment/Southside gentrification.

Even in the world of finance where San Antonio theoretically was a larger more mature market than Austin for years the payscale was worse in San Antonio.

I had friends that jumped from boutique shops in Austin to work for larger firms in San Antonio for paycuts thinking there would be upward mobility but even high-mid level jobs in the San Antonio market didn't hit the payscale they did in Austin.

Here's another beefy West Campus apartment project. It takes up an entire block. There are a lot of nice drawings in the Historic Landmark Commission meeting backup file in the link:

Wrong corner. It is where Tap 24 and 7-11 sit. The Wheatsville heritage building they are building around sits between them.

Does that new area have easy public access from the sidewalk or is it for the tenants?
