Don't attack me personally with some erroneous assumption (malek-worthy west-island mockery). I am one of the biggest defenders of Quebec and the French fact here on this board. I fully agree that it makes total sense to have a french-speaking coach/GM for les Canadiens.

Equating the Canadian flag with the Patriot flag is totally beyond the pale.

Take a look in my own backward? You have to deal with the Canadian flag every day?

Yeah we'll see. I'll believe it when I see a crane go up. I don't know if the market will allow it, let's not forget that our tallest building going up right now (40 floors) is an apartment building, no a condo.

Let's hope it gets built! Let's hope for the 62 stories one! It would be a beautiful addition to Montreal's skyline who lack one or two of these towers....

I returned in Saguenay last fall to see my family and slept in Montreal. It really needs something who will give a total skyline renewal to forget the two hideous skyscrapers that are Place Ville Marie and 1000 de la Gauchetière. After all, we see the every same buildings since the 1990s.

By the way, I hate Mont Royal's height restriction...

Let's go Cadillac Fairview! Build Avenue des Canadiens Tower!

Place ville Marie hideous? My god man, it's a timeless classic.

And as for Le 1000, it's meh. But not hideous. You want hideous, take stroll around berri uqam metro, or walk at the corner of maisonneuve and guy and feel free to gaze upon that gigantic brown piece of shit Le chatel. That's hideous.

The two Concordia towers help the area a little however, I'd like to take a wrecking ball to some of those ugly apartment buildings.

Looks like this thing is going to get chopped in height guys. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it will likely come in at closer to 40 stories now.

Things could still change but that looks to be the current plan.

Yeah I'm surprised it is even not cancelled altogether yet.

40 floors? Whatever I'll take it. This is Montreal after all.

There is no commercial, it will be ~40 floors total.

The project is still subject to revisions, up or down, so we'll see in the coming months where it finally lands on, I'd imagine 40 is about where it will end up though.

And the change has nothing to do with the Greeks that I know of. We should really cut them some slack, it seems like everything is their fault these days...

Nice to see a new office going up in Montreal. Seems fitting and green, too.

Nobody should be at all surprised. I was highly skeptical of the 62 floors from the beginning. 62 floors and Montreal do not mix.

That said, I will gladly take the 40 stories.

If the tower is not at least 500 feet tall, I rather they not build anything at all on that lot. It would be a terrible waste.

Thumbs down Height decreased to 41 floors/140m

This project has been lowered to 41 floors/140m according to an article in today's La Presse. They removed the hotel component apparently because it was two difficult to make separate entrances on such a small lot.

Haha. Great. Whatever. 140m? I'll take it.

It IS technically the tallest building to be built since 1992.

I can't help but suspect that CF really dropped the ball on this project.

well, in fairness, cadillac fairview is nothing like most of the jokers who operate in montreal, this is a major major group that makes decisions very carefully and can afford to play the long game (indeed, has to, given its ownership and mission). when lc says that they may move it forward if sales go well, this means that it'd be ahead of their schedule in that case, not behind in the case that it went according to plan. also, i can't think of anything outside of griffintown/mcgill street with the funding guarantee that c-f brings that's in pre-sale right now, meaning that this project - a prestige condo/corporate investment project with near unmatchable views - has the jump on every one of the 10 and most of the stuff already in the pipes. this thing is in a class unto itself, for the moment.
