Yes, right by the transfer station.

IIRC, Beedie has an option to acquire the transfer station. I'll have to check up on that though.

No industrial buildings will be lost - this will be on the site of the original Fraser Mills, which closed down in the 90's. On the contrary, the first stage of the development will include quite a bit of light industrial space.

Edit: Map showing the lands which will be encompassed. Transfer station will go, but no other industry will be lost: http://www.coquitlam.ca/Libraries/Ci...le_A.sflb.ashx

Thta may work in a master-planned community - but when 20+ years and different economic climates separate developments, the earlier uphill buildings are often the smaller ones.

Just look at Fairmont Pacific Rim and Shaw Tower versus the older office towers behind them.

Five high-rises eyed for Kiwanis Court lands

By Richmond Review

Updated: June 22, 2012 10:3810 AM

...
Richmond Kiwanis Senior Citizens Housing Society has partnered with Polygon to build 631 homes at 6251 Minoru Blvd. Two towers—296 units—would be rental apartments for seniors with limited income, and owned by the Kiwanis society. The other 335 units would comprise Polygon’s proposed Carrera condominium development.

Urgh... a chance to pre-build allowances for a third platform at Columbia... presumably wasted....

According to the sun, over 130 condos have already been sold at Moda. The demand for Metrotown is insatiable!

That must be why they're starting with the shortest tower. I agree it will be the true test of the Metrotown market.
