I'm at USC and from here earlier today in the morning it seemed to me that there was a circular area on the crown shinning more than the rest of the crown and it seemed to me like it is the digital Korean airlines signage planned to go atop the tower. Can anybody confirm this?

Does anyone know if the sail will sport a corporate logo or not? I've heard there might be a circular illuminated logo of Korean Air or the hotel brand put up on there.

(renders from AC Martin website)

This is the original logo. I don't know if this logo is being replaced with the hotel brand.

^What I would give to have the ocean start where the 10 is.

Guess I'll just have to wait 30 years.

I don't even like the spire, it detracts from the simple elegance of the crown IMO.

This building has a lot of cool little details that once you see them, makes the building all the more interesting.

One of the reasons I love the tower is it presents a completely different face from each side, and yet is completely integrated. The multifaceted east and west faces are much more visually interesting than what they were in the renders.

Turned out nice, the only downer is its roof height vs the US Bank Tower.

As you know overall structural height is the official height today in this world. As for the glass they could put a film over the glass.

This reminds me of a story I read where somebody asked Abraham Lincoln, "How many legs does a dog have if you count the tail as a leg? "Four", he replied. "The fact that you call the tail a leg doesn't make it a leg".

Similarly, whatever the organization was that decided spires count towards height can call WG the "tallest" West coast building all they want, but that doesn't make it in actual fact taller.

It's ridiculousness on the level of Magic Johnson wearing a stovepipe hat and being declared taller than Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Yes the tail is a tail not a leg. The spire is a spire. Not a hotel floor full of rooms.
but the spire is part of the overall structure. Does the tail count if you measure how long the dog is.

Its a 934 foot tower, with a 166 foot spire. Everyone can debate on what something "looks" like to them. Great! But since a STANDARDIZED form of measurement is needed for most things to clarify, and to avoid confusion, those are the rules they use.
Opinions are fine, but it doesn't change it, no matter what obscure references you pull out to make some point.
Is a mile not a mile because part of the mile is on water, not land?
But please...lets keep debating settled arguments...LOL
True that! US Bank tower in all its postmodern "glory" is unfortunately still the king of LA.

Old school I may be, but Aon Center will always be the true symbol of LA for me...
