Does Yellowknife get fogged in like Fairbanks does in the winter when it's way below zero for days on end?
Yep it sure does

My friend works for CBC North and seems to love Yellowknife. He gets to travel all over the territories for various stories. If you don't mind the Winters, the Northern Summers are quite enjoyable.

Yeah, if you don't mind misquitos the size of flies and flies the size of bees.

After seeing this thread I kinda regret not making a detour through Yellowknife on one of my trips to Fort Smith. it would have only been an extra 900km on a 2600km road trip.

Interesting place!! I've seen a picture of the skyline before, but not in detail the way you presented it!! Nice job!!

Thanks for the great tour!

I lived in Yellowknife from October 1995 - April 1996...and I've been back once in 1998. I have a lot of great memories of that city. It looks like it really hasn't changed much in the last 16 years which is to be expected in a city of 20,000. I'm going to have to make the trip up there soon (if I can convince myself to drive for that long).

Wow! Yellowknife seems very interesting, unique, but very normal at the same time! and for a city of only 20,000 people it has an extremely impressive skyline!

I definitely wouldn't mind visiting there sometime, I've always wanted to got to the Canadian north in the winter. Someday I will!

Great pics and what a neat place.

I hate cold weather, though. I mean, I can handle it down to about 55, but after that things get uncomfortable (I know). Still, a place like that must be a neat one to experience.

Yellowknife is a must know if you're into small city skylines.
