The world is much more civilized now.

And now that there is going to be a good pub with a large selection of craft beer I may think seriously of spending more time downtown.

Hit it up last night. Great size, nice mix of seats, good prices, nice menu, great owners.

Was thinking about wandering over tomorrow after work to check it out.

Can I get beer there too or is it just high end paint thinner ?

I&G is the Scotch of beers.

Taking off early and going for a bike ride, but may head back in and go by for a beer and a scotch.

Went in the Cask and Barrel last night. It got quite busy as it was getting dark. I was told the grand opening would be today.

As for what I had there, I had a couple bottles of Sam Adams Spring Lager, which isn't half bad. I'll have to try some of that Innis & Gunn on tap later tonight.

From AB political blogger @davecournoyer on twitter: "Checked out the new Common on 109 Street tonight. Not as seedy as the old Martini's and it's hipster central. Times are a changin in AB."

Went by Cask and Barrel last night. Service was a tad slow. They ran out of I&G on tab. Waitress said most people coming in were asking for it. Menu is nothing to cheer about, but I will give them time to develop a good one. As for the Whiskey (Scotch) selection, it’s pretty pedestrian. Especially when compared to Bothy. The beer selection is good though. Nice to see NO Molson’s or Labatt’s on the page. The space itself is quite nice, comfortable. The crowd was late 20-40’s. over all though I will be going back.
